A network marketing business is a business where you can recruit and build a team of people who can all make money selling services or products.

It's called "Multi Level Marketing" because the commissions for selling the products are paid on several levels. If somebody 4 levels below you sells a product, they make money, and a few people above them - including you - make money.

If you buy a TV from an appliance store, that's multi-level too, in a way. The people who share in the profit are: the salesperson who makes a commission, the wholesaler, the shipper and the manufacturer. In network marketing, YOU can be one of the levels.

A person has to be very careful in approaching this kind of business. Network marketing has gotten a bad rap because of wild claims and promises made and unscrupulous fly-by-night companies. Also many of the products are sold at highly inflated prices.

Most people who try network marketing fail for several reasons:

1. They do not take the training.
2. They do not go to work. It's easy to goof off when you don't have a boss!
3. They sell pricy health products that nobody knows the value of, so it's a hard sell
4. They join the business under a person who has no clue how to do it themselves and therefore can't help them succeed.

If you join a good company, learn the skills and work diligently, you will succeed.

I hope that helps.

and what exactly is a "network marketing business"?
See how googling for word "niche" can get you into 1/2 abandoned websites that you or paid soul can spam.
Awesome!

Most people who join MLM companies treat it as a lottery ticket. "I'll buy it and try it and see if I win." That might be OK for people who want to gamble. It's not good business sense.

I got into a network marketing business in 2001, and it has paid me $500,000 since then. I have gotten to know quite a few high earners personally, and 3 of the people I have brought in are making over $100,000 per year part time. We don't sell overpriced snake oil. We sell dental plans and health programs for the uninsured.

What is required for success...

1. Learn and develop the skills of the trade.
2. Go to work consistently
3. Never stop learning
4. Give it time to build up. Most people don't make a full-time income until their 3rd year.

By the way... I took 2-1/2 years off for personal reasons. During the 30 months I didn't work, the company paid me $160,000. That's the most money I've ever made in my life for not working!

I've just gone back to work part-time.

MLM is the best path for some people. In my recruiting I try to screen the people. As a professional network marketer, I don't want to spend my time working with people who are not serious about developing the skills and going to work.

It's an AWESOME niche for the right people.

I have to say you have quite a site and great valuable content so please do not take this the wrong way. I really like the content having just discovered it.
But I would it quite funny that right next to this post I see an add "stop working so hard...this is easy" leading to yet another ehm..."I was homeless but now filthy rich" program.

-So I guess my question is how to control 'comment content' as it surely has to affect your adds rotation?
-Second, how do you feel about 'blog whoring' and comments that are actually supportive of content but authors place their links/plugs in form of name/site linking? Do you delete, block or let them live?
Thanks for your time!

I love this girl. I just discovered her on youtube couple days ago and found SOOOOO much useful info to help me with my site.

She speaks the RAW truth. I wont make another move on the net unless I consult her blogs first.

Keep up the good work!

I thought for sure you was going to say not to get into the video game niche! :)
I'm an Internet Business Consultant along with owning very competitive websites (keeps me on my toes), and in my many years in the industry it seems time and time again where many people fail, though they may be a top Authority in their niche, is that they lack the "Self Discipline" to attend to duties without guidance. Working at home is a quite a bit different from "going to work". There is no time clock to punch, No boss to answer to, no list of your daily tasks magically waiting for you,... There is Only you and what you Decide to do with your time. I noted a mention of "some people succeeding in mlm and what did they do different to succeed?".
I would wager that they did what most successful entrepreneurs do, they made a good plan and "worked it" with everything they had in them. Sometimes it is not what you are doing, but how hard you are trying.
Most of my new clients are taken by surprise when they expect me to whip up a website for them but instead "we" whip up a complete Business Plan with a Plan of Attack. Often taking many weeks to make these plans and complete the training.
No, there is no magic wand, just you...
Ken
