How to Create an Online Traffic Jam
I was checking my blog stats last week and noticed quite a few visitors from www.trafficjam.com.
I wasn’t sure how one of my blog posts got to the top of the page, so I read their “About” page.
Turns out, BlogRush was the culprit.
Apparently my post about the $8,000 SiteSell check received quite a bit of attention throughout the network.
Normally my posts receive between 5-10 clicks from BlogRush, but that entry received over 50 clicks, which earned my blog a #2 spot on TrafficJam.com for a short time.
If you aren’t familiar with BlogRush, they are a free service that can help drive targeted traffic to your blog. They advertise your blog throughout the network in exchange for placing a widget on your blog.
The more traffic your widget/blog receives, the more display credits you’ll earn for your own posts.
According to the TrafficJam site, if your blog post generates a certain amount of clicks from the BlogRush network (and meets some other undisclosed criteria), it makes it to the TrafficJam.com website.
Before You Get Too Excited…
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a huge fan of the free traffic MLM programs. Generally if you do receive any traffic, it’s low quality because people are only clicking to your site to earn more credits for their own.
These programs aren’t going to send your traffic to the next level by any means. So I usually take most of the free traffic I receive with a grain of salt.
However, this case was a little different because once my blog made it to the TrafficJam.com site, the people clicking over to my blog had nothing to gain.
They weren’t earning free display credits like they do when they click on posts through the BlogRush network, so the traffic coming from TrafficJam.com was a little more high quality.
Every Little Bit Helps
While free traffic generating programs should not be a large part of your promotion efforts, this goes to show you can see some results; particularly if you take the time to write catchy headlines.
This is especially true with a program like BlogRush when the only thing a potential visitors sees is your blog’s title. Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Make that title count!
I’ve been pretty impressed with BlogRush. I’ve even gotten emails from other members who said they found my blog from the network so that’s always a plus to know that all traffic I’m getting is not completely meaningless.
And even though every post does not make it to the TrafficJam.com site, the exposure I’m getting from the service has definitely been worth it as of late - especially since it’s not costing me a dime.

When BlogRush first debuted, I join but because I wasn’t getting enough traffic they removed my account. I totally understand that. I am going to re-join one my college site has better traffic.
Both sites are run by John Reese of InfoBack Corporation. It’s not uncommon for these “MLM” traffic generation sites to have another unrelated site that features the sites that seem to get lots of interest from the traffic generation sites. Congrats on your high traffic post..
