Well I feel better about feeling 'giddy like a school boy' when I saw that the ads on my site made me $3.30 (very first day with AdSense) lol I think its good to celebrate the milestones. Even if they are tiny ;)

Lisa!

I LOVE this post - you sound just like ME!

I was having a real good day recently and I thought to myself "I wish I could just do this for fun and not have to worry about making money..."

My favourite subjects at school were English & Art - maybe that's why I enjoy both the writing and the creative elements of this business.

Anyway, I've suscribed to your blog and I look forward to reading more of your posts!

Reading your site could not have come at a better time like this. I really got alot of insight and wisdom on internet marketing.
I come from Africa and I am just on the start of building a website.
Is there anyhing I should know?
Cheers

Hi Lis I served in the Navy years ago and we had an acronym we called The Seven P's.

It goes something like this........

Prior, Preparation and Planning, Prevents, P&#$, Poor, Performance!

Though now that I'm out of the forces I've learned to be more politically correct in my self expression ;)

Yes I have been through the whole process before. I learned how to build my own site using Nvu. I thought I was doing everything right and it would just happen, but it didnt, but what ever you do you learn something in the process. I was disappointed but I did learn how to really use the computer and I learned how to build a website. All I was lacking was the customers. Thats why its so important to have passion about what you are doing so you will not get ADD. My situation might be a little different that most people. I am semi-retired and just need enough income to pay a few bills Its just like I told my Sons growing up, if you enjoy what you are doing, the money will take care of itself. I will purchase SBI in the near future but I am in no hurry until I do some more planning. Just let me say this from my experience with online business'. Dont let yourself get to high when you do something right and dont let yourself get to low when you do something wrong, just try to stay on even emotional keel. thanks...................bill

Planning and enjoying what you do are vital. No doubt! But one thing I believe is equally important in order to succeed is Resolve (promising yourself you will never give up). You'll have lots of failures along the way but if you never ever quit and constantly learn from your mistakes you'll end up a champion at what you do.
