I wish adsense allowed pictures next to text ads. Why would they not allow it? I remember when Ken Evoy even wondered why they didn't allow it, in some of his articles.

Other ad revenue providers allow pics - and people love pics - this would generate more revenue - so why does Google Adsense have so much beef with livening up an ad?

It's ok to have image ads and video ads - but it's not ok to have text ads with images next to them? What's up with that? I think that would be a change worth way more than all the last several years worth of Adsense changes.

I do agree with their 3 ad limit policy - that is a definite anti-spam approach I support - but excluding images next to ads - what are they afraid of?

I like the idea of the change. I think that anything that allows us publishers more flexibility is a good thing.

adsense has overtaken pretty much all other avenues of income for my website and is currently the top earner (growing content has exponentially fueled adsense earnings growth). though i do not often make changes to default settings, this seems like it would be worth the time. what has helped in the past is the blacklist program that gives you a list of domains that you can block. these domains are arbitrage concepts that steal clicks from you at low costs and sell them at higher costs on their site. Lisa, thanks for bringing relevant changes to our attention!

Even thought I have yet to make money online, I would like to thank you for all your advice! You were the first one who introduced me to AdSense and inspired me to create a website. Ever since I first saw you on YouTube a few months ago, I've been reading your websites, your ebooks and your blog. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!

I wasn't aware of those changes. I begin to write articles on HubPages about 3 months ago, and I had been able to earn from Google AdSense on HubPages. Since that time, my Google AdSense start increasing, slowly but still, increasing :)

I used to make a lot of money with Adsense about 3 years ago. I had dozens of sites with Adsense all over them. When Google lowered the click-through payout, my earnings dropped. However, if I had created the right type of sites that targeted high paying keywords, those sites would still be profitable today. Lesson? Target the right keywords for your Adsense websites!

Great article. I only recently found out about blocking certain ad categories.. I then blocked a few of the obnoxious ad categories that I don't find many of my readers would even be half interested in. I also think it's great that right there it shows how often each category is shown and what percentage of earnings have come from each one. Awesome. After blocking a few categories I did not want, I am waiting to see if I get even greater results.
