2 Create a Website Blog

Welcome New Subscribers!

I’m trying something new to ensure I get to know more about you and what you need.  After all, the more I know, the more I can help and target my content toward you.

You took the time to subscribe to my list, so the least I can do is get to know more about you and why you’re here.

However, please understand that I will not be able to answer everyone directly.  I will be using your feedback here to publish better content and videos for you in the future.

In fact, I have revamped my FAQs with answers to common questions, so please check those out.

Now, I’d appreciate it if you’d take a few moments to tell me more about yourself and what you’d like to learn.  Here are some starter questions to get you going, but feel free to add whatever information you’d like.

1) Do you have a website yet?

2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?

3) What would you like to learn more about?  Please be specific.

4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)

Just enter your feedback below.  Please don’t be shy.  You can use a pen name if you wish to remain anonymous.

Your e-mail address will not be displayed or shared with anyone.  It is only for commenting validation.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted feedback thus far.  It has been invaluable and helped me write my new book, Niche Website Success — which is a guide that teaches you how to build a website and make money with affiliate marketing, AdSense, and more.

Don’t forget to check out my FAQs!

We have a couple of websites but our main one is Restless Boomers, presently serving as a blog publishing form of site with an accompanying free weekly newsletter. We are changing the site and newsletter up a bit to be more dynamic and offer more red meat to our viewers and realized we needed some help in fine tuning the necessary elements to increase revenues. We found your site and realized immediately you are what we need.

You offer an awesome service at a time of unprecedented opportunity on the internet. And our demographic is in great need of ways to augment their retirement income. That’s our focus along with keeping them informed with hard hitting articles and videos on what’s really happening in the world.

Our biggest challenge right now is a new theme for our WordPress, looking for more of a daily news type of layout. We’ll be viewing your vids on building with Genesis and will go from there.

Lastly we prefer to do the work in-house rather than outsource as it helps us learn and we have total control, enabling us to change and tweak as needed.

Thanks for all you do and share with us!

    Hi Lisa
I am just starting my career as a freelance web designer (websitesandyou) and obviously I need targeted traffic, not just click traffic, that I can easily get. I really liked your site and the fact that you are the first one I have come across in the IM field, who is not a GURU type, even though you have been making a decent living online for a long time now. Real genuine persona you have. Keep it up.
So yeah, pls teach me all about your ‘Traffic formula’…What exactly you do each day for the same?
Later maybe, I would also like to build a ‘niche website’…Still in the research mode.
And yes, I am using Market Samurai, just like every other smart IM. Cheers.

Hello Lisa. I do have domain names but no websites yet. I want to learn how to get that all set up. I want to do blogs and I have a number of topics to write about. Should I stay focused on just one subject? I plan to stay plugged in and view your YouTube videos. My overall goal is to make money with my work.

I came across your videos on YouTube…I don’t know exactly how…but I and very grateful that you are sharing this info with us newbies (I’m actually a fetus…I know NOTHING!).

    Hello Lisa,

First of all, you do a fabulous job explaining things so that I understand it clearly. I can be a bit slow to catch things. I do have my own website with Site Build It! (love them!) My site is http://www.decorating-ideas-made-easy.com. It is doing fairly well.
What I need the most advice on is using the right column properly, getting more traffic, and Google Adsense, and advice on sponsors. I did just finish watching three of your Google Adsense videos. So, that helped a ton!
I signed up for your newsletter and look forward to teaching the left side of my brain! Thank you!

I do not have a website yet….that is why I am here. My taxes are coming in and I want to take a large sum of that money and invest it into online marketing! I would like to know the easiest and best way (which produces outstanding results )to get started. I plan on going all in on this project. I am very serious about this as I want to develop this into a very profitable career. My biggest goal right now is…well…everything. I am unfamiliar with internet website building and marketing strategy, but I am willing to learn. I thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.

      Hi William

You honestly don’t need to invest a large sum of money at first. First, you need to figure out what kind of site you want to build. If you decide to do affiliate marketing like me, the key is to brainstorm for a topic, develop content and begin building traffic. Now, if you want to sell something (create an ecommerce site) then there may be more variables involved, however you first need to figure out *what* you want to do.

You say you want *outstanding results* and you can have them, but you have to understand this takes time and it’s all about supply and demand. What kind of site can you build to meet the demands of a specific audience? That’s where you start.

No I don’t have a website. I am a artist showing my work to anyone that I come in contact with and got some favorable feedback. I think that I may have a target market or demographic and websites seem to be the way to go for future generations. I ran across you on youtube doing some research on the whole idea of web development and stopped to listen to what you had to say. I came back to you later so I decided to follow you.
My immediate concern came when I read the terms of agreement on one of the hosting companies that seem to state that by creating this contract that I agree that they may do anything with my intellectual property, making derivative works , and generally anything that they want with it. Am i correct in my (mis) understanding? This concern actually stopped me from signing up for the web hosting and domain name.

    Hi Lisa,

I have a couple of websites: one for my illustration portfolio http://www.leohartas.com and one for my graphic novel http://www.mirabilis-yearofwonders.com. I am soon going to launch a new product http://www.playrama.co.uk (not live just yet!) I was looking to both learn WordPress and get a decent blog going, tie it all together with social media, get more people through my sites, and in time generate some much needed cash from it all too. Also, the sites all need a big spring clean! I came across one of your videos and liked you! Your enthusiasm, your expressive delivery, and that you take beginners seriously (you had me reading your site until 3 am last night!) The most important thing is that you made me realise how much knowledge I have amassed in my field (children’s book illustration) over the last 20 odd years, and the sheer megatons of blog material I could write to inform the new generation of artists coming up! Your understanding that many people are new or beginning a subject is spot on. After flailing around the web looking for basic answers I think I’ve found the place to start. Your site! (and I’m buying both your books!) 🙂 Thank you! Leo

    Hey Lisa,

I’m not sure how it happened but you’re linked to my Web site. Thanks. I’m way in the beginning of learning/navigating my way through the whole SBI process.

I’m still in the midst of building my pages, so it’s gonna take a minute for me to have a good grasp on all of this.

Meanwhile I’m doing little snippets on YouTube (trying not to get overwhelmed). You’re on my radar.

I’d like to figure out how to link your book and info into my content. Well, I kinda already know how to do it. Just want to maximize how to do it, am still learning.

You’re my #1 inspiration in this whole process, so I’m definitely going to give you the credit you deserve and pump your products (book, site, videos etc.)

So, give me a minute…. and I’ll be back. Thanks, Jean

      Hi Jean,

If you read the book, one of the best ways to promote it is to actually talk about how it helped you in specific areas on your site. Write a review or on your “About Us” page you can talk about what resources helped you with your site and provide a link. That’s the strategy I use when promoting products on my site. Thanks for your support.

    Hi Lisa,
Yes I Have a website called http://www.subheat.co.uk we install heat pumps and underfloor heating and other renewable technologies for carbon neutral properties such as mechanical heat recovery ventilation etc.
The reason i subscribed was to learn the ideal methods to improve my page ranking and be on the top of the organics listing, I do not feel that a google adword campaign is money well spent. Primarily I want to create a RSS feed and set up a news feed on the front page of my website so when i find articles i like I can add them to http://www.subheat.co.uk and hopefully create traffic to my site. The fundamental aim is to create leads (money) for our services (which is very competitive) installing heat Pumps & underfloor heating and other renewable technologies, the fundamental aim is that i can move away from the installation side of the business (it can be very physical) and create a supply only portal that installers can access so they can purchase products directly from me – hopefully this would lead on to suppliers taking notice of me so they would want to promote their products via our website?

What would you like to learn more about? I would like to learn more about how to put in links, different ways to make money, how to add in videos. How to have hubpage videos or youtube and link them to my site.

What is your biggest challenge right now? My biggest challenge is just getting started in modifying templates when you don’t know HTML, more toturals on drag and drop, adding pages, I guess everything.

      Hi Linda

It actually doesn’t sound silly at all. I rarely *sell*. I inform through content and earn money when I recommend related products. So the idea is to build a hub of content around your topic of interest. Use social media to keep in touch and share your content.

I wonder if the issue online is that you have multiple topics. Do you have a separate site for each topic or are you trying to promote it all at once? It would work much better if you keep everything niche. Feel free to join my forum WebsiteBabble.com if you’d like to get help and chat with others.

Hi Lisa. I don’t have a website. I subscribed to your newsletter because you seem to be very honest and very knowledgeable about the RIGHT way to start an online business. I feel like I can really learn the ropes from you. To begin with, I would like very much to learn affiliate marketing, starting from how to choose a brandable domain name (that is IF I really need one, or a regular domain name). I would just like to know the entire step by step process from domain name selection, to website creation, promoting the product (using PLR, specifically),etc.,and anything and everything else that you think I should know about how to earn money from affiliate marketing. My biggest challenge so far is actually putting all of this together and making sense of it to where I can finally start to make some money.

I am 45 and I’ll be my 6th year overseas and the kids are growing and I want to spend quality time with them and with the missus of course so the challenge is how to get it off the ground and still earn the same if not more.

    Hi Lisa,

I have been searching online to get help with setting up a website for ages and your info so far has topped anything I’ve come across so Thankyou!! I am in network marketing for health and Weightloss and my mentor would like me to set up with there websites which I think are very average sites and would like to do my own. The SBI site looks good but because it doesn’t have a shopping cart option I will have to spend alot per month to have both and hope my site will go well enough to support the costs. I realize Affiliate links are an option but not sure if allowed in my network marketing niche. Too many what if’s I need to stop thinking and start doing.

    Best regards,

    Leanne

    Hi Lisa,

I was on the brink of launching into creating my own free website when I saw one of your ads, links and I became a follower. I listened to your advice and got SBI. I’m working on the content for my website. I should have some pages up within the next few days.

I am not having any problems. It’s just a lot of reading and learning. I know some things, thank God. So, it’s not like I’m @ Square One but I have lots to learn so I’m willingly weathering the arduous process. I don’t mind because I love to read and write. So, this is right up my alley.

I looked at a number of your You Tube videos and I like your presentation. I saw in you someone I could relate to and I also saw some things to which I aspire.

Thanks for all you’ve provided. I’ll be in touch again, soon, as I get further along. God bless.

    Best regards,
    Jean

Hi Lisa, Thanks for your email and generosity.
    1) Do you have a website yet?

I have a few mostly Ecommerce websites on the internet.

    2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?

My sister in another country, told me to watch you on Youtube. We have been talking on how to make money on the Internet. Since then, I have subscribed to your new videos, joined your FB page and here.

    3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific. How tro make money on the Internet. 🙂

I am looking or a cheap way to build a working money making website besides Blogger. I have three websites two are Ecommerce, one is my High School website.(http://wwww.carronhallvocationalhigh.com) I had created the Blogger cake blog in 2009 and only starting adding post to it in April of this year. I put some google asence ads on them to see how things would go. This was done in April so I a not earning much yet.
    4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
My biggest challenge I think is: Finding a cheaper way to build a website website or blog to put other ads besides Google’s. Already signed up with Clickbank and others but haven’t utelized any of those ads yet, since I think I cannot put them on Blogger.

I want to find a WUSIWUG site that I can just put the information there and not having to download and upload something like wordpress. Also I would have to figure out FTP and stuff then find another host. Its too much for me right now to bother with wordpress. Any other suggestion

    Hi
I have several web sites – none making much money – but thecompletemenopause.com is my main one. Unfortunately, I have not managed to get AdSense working -yet

I find that I am overwhelmed with information and get distracted by it. I have purchased several courses, but I`m hoping that your practical approach will help me focus.

    Kind Regards

      Hi Sharon

Those courses can be tricky if they don’t really teach the fundamentals of marketing and how to build your own brand. My secret has been to find niches that I have experience with and provide free, useful information that builds trust and loyalty. Then I sell products or refer products (affiliate marketing) that are related to my sites. The concept is super simple, but it takes hard work and it’s about finding that right niche.

    Hi Lisa,

Came across your blog through Twitter. Very easy to understand and the positive comments left by others says a lot about you.

I own a consignment store in Canada and support it with a WP website. Initially the website was set up by someone else. Currently I maintain the site with posts & galleries but would like to add an on-line store for big-ticket items.

I would also like to know how to get the website to show up in more Google searches. What do I need to do to make this happen.

One of my biggest challenges is the current retail environment because it has changed so much. In addition to other retailers, our competition now includes cross-border shopping, on-line shopping and of course, the sputtering economy.
    Thank you,
    Kathy

When I found you (I’m not sure how, whether it was YouTube or an organic search), all I can remember is how happy I was to see you, someone who looks like me. May sound superficial but that WAS it. I found you to be personable and VERY informative. I was traveling down the path of website creation due ENTIRELY to my popularity on YouTube and getting invited into Adsense. That was in ’09 and the form asked for a url. I was like wow, so you have to have your own website to make money with Adsense? So on I went to doing just that.

I am a retired computer specialist with nearly 2 decades of experience. I’ve been on the internet since it’s invention and never ventured into website creation prior to my invite from YouTube. Websites never interested me as a way to make a living because I HATE TO WRITE! So no thank you. However, YouTube changed my life to move in that direction. The first thing I learned is HOW EASY IT AIN’T! I was so glad to find someone that made a little more easier to swallow and understand. I now have a website I’m proud of (still in it’s infancy of develop though) but I am dedicating it to the confident plus sized women and their admirers.

    http://phat4life.net

As you know I was one of those hit with the bogus “at risk of invalid click activity” on YouTube and therefore Adsense was taken away before I ever saw a dime, however, I have no regret now as I would never have tried to create a website were it not for you and the invite to AdSense through YouTube. The most important thing I am learning throughout my website creation journey is that you will NEVER stop needing to learn about it.

I’ve run into numerous heartbreaking setbacks but in all of I AM LEARNING! I want to learn more and will continue to reference you as you are a valuable resource. I would like to see more on AdSense alternatives as I know I am not the first, nor will I be the last to be hit with Google’s algorythmic fallout. As I dug deeper into the matter, IT’S UGLY and personally just don’t want to rely on PPC advertising anyways. I am enjoying a steady flow of impressions to my site (thanks to googlebots constantly being “parked guests” on my newborn website) and pure organic grind (slang for work). I would rather explore more CPM options or do more direct negotiation for advertising as Google is the LAST thing I want my business to count on. Congrats to those who are making money through them, YOU ARE THE LUCKY ONES! The rest of us have been or will be harmed if you are not jumping through Google’s hoops.

I loved your bite size .pdf tutorials and the way in which you presented HTML and I encourage you to continue with that. They are very beneficial to the newbie. I look forward to more of those type of products. I am so glad I found you and you are stuck with me, now that I did.

    ;D

I would really love to have a blog or website with affiliates. I really think I would be good at it because I am so into Handbags. I just have no clue what to do. Thanks

    Lisa,

Thank you for being YOU…..I truly appreciate those who teach, based upon subjects that they are passionate about.

I’m a member and a independent distributor for a company located in California, that sells organic whole food supplementation. This came about because I almost died in 1997 and I took matters into my own hands, literally. I personally use the products and they are of the highest quality!

Being a member, I have a website that was provided to me by the company. I also have a YT channel, I am “revamping” my FB business page, I am going to open a Twitter account and I want to start a blog based upon the many products.

I am very much a detailed oriented person and I am amazed at what people don’t know when it comes to their health and well being.

I’ve subscribed to your YT channel about 3 months ago. I’ve subscribed to your newsletter for more in-depth details for traffic to social outlets, blogging (I will take the time to put in quality content), marketing to my targeted audience and beyond!

I want to make sure that I am headed in the right direction and that my work is meaningful to others, not just myself. Sure, I want to make money with my products as well.

I believe that my biggest challenge right now is that I am standing in my own way; my content that I write has SO much detail that I maybe taking too long to do what I need to do.

Thank you Lisa for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Brenda

    Hi Lisa,

I like the way you teach, very detailed and like you’re talking to a friend.

We do have a website at: http://bizgrabbers.com.

We subscribed to your newsletter because we want to learn more about how to SUCCESSFULLY use websites and social media (especially Facebook) and tie them all together to work more powerfully.

We want to learn more about how to build our own websites and not have to rely upon the template companies.

We think our biggest challenge is to learn what we need to know in a orderly fashion that will maximize our profits while we are still in the learning mode.

    Thanks for all you do.
