My last video on ClickBank generated quite a bit of curiosity. Many people wanted to know what programs earn me the most money and which ones I recommend they join.
You have to be careful about your curiosity of other Webmaster’s income. Remember, just because someone makes $5,000/month with one affiliate program, doesn’t mean you should expect the same returns.
Instead of focusing so much on the highest paying programs, first look for the ones that best fit your site and audience.
And if you don’t have an audience, work on that first and put the monetization piece on hold for now.
Remember, you can make a killing with any program with the right marketing strategy and enough targeted traffic.
Unfortunately too many Webmasters overlook those two things and find themselves jumping from program to program, on a continuous search for that online pot of gold.
Watch the video below where I discuss this topic in further detail…

Lisa,
Quick question: Affiliate links can be placed on a website, but do you know if we can promote affiliate links on a Facebook fan page?
Thanks for you input.
lisa says
You’ll have to check the individual terms of the actual program you want to promote. Usually this is OK but it’s never bad to check. I do it all the time, especially in relevant mentions or posts.

Hi Lisa, just a quick note to say I like your presentation style, you are enthusiastic and clear speaking with good articulation. You have a good common sense approach with down to earth principles and you sound ethical, plus you keep the hype to a minimum. You could teach some other guys a thing or two on that side of the pond. Keep up the good work. I’m a total newbie and will looking at your site frequently I hope. All the best Steve,UK
lisa says
Thanks Steve! Means a lot.

Thanks for the tips Lisa. And I agree with what you say. First to me, it was all about trying to make money online. But now i know that there is more to it than just money. It’s about marketing yes. But it’s also about providing good value and and accurate information to people who are looking for them. So yes, there is money to be made, but that shouldn’t be my primary concern. Am I delivering what people are looking for, is it helping them out?

Lisa,
I totally agree with you one the process of creating a profitable website. Using the information from your site I followed your advice. What I did was secure a domain (www.porscheresource.com) that pertained to the subject matter of my site. From there I created a template system in Dreamweaver that had space for ads. For each template I created a duplicate that included the ads. As Traffic to my site increases I simply switch templates on the various pages without changing the look of the page. As an experiment I have done so on the top landing pages on my site with success. I currently have ads on about 15 pages out of nearly 300 on the site. I have not yet committed the remaining pages as my traffic is only between 50-60 visits a day. As I said before, your insite has proven correct in what I have experienced. I just hope I can continue to grow as you have.

So far everyone talk about the big bucks they are making, yet everyone is charging bucks to help you get started. Is it possible for you to email me so that we can chat and maybe even on the phone.

I hope your help to advise me more .
Thank you advance.

That’s great Paul! You are the type of person I really wanted to reach with this post because I know you are not alone. There are tons of people hopping from program to program when what they really need is traffic and a better marketing plan. Good for you!

Lisa,
This post really struck a chord with me. It made me realize that I don’t need to find a better affiliate program to get more sales, rather I need to better my marketing efforts with my current affiliate programs. I recently began doing more social bookmarking with posts on my blog and website and my numbers have increased by almost tenfold. Thanks for your thoughts.

Lisa-
I’m lovin’ this site. I just linked your content to my Google reader. Your thoughts ,additionaly, add more value to my online technology and marketing education. I’m not sure about how to build a site or even “drive traffic” yet- but you’ve inspired me to come correct;to deliver my passion first, avoiding the urge to become an instant success story.Once my site is fleshed out I want you to visit. You are amazingly transparent and enjoy what you do. It’s evident.

I think they mostly just train folks to be professional web designers for clients and big companies. Unfortunately, those folks need efficient marketing programs as well. And while a marketing department works for some things, some marketers are clueless on how to market on the web.
lisa says
Thanks Jennifer. I often wonder if colleges are going to start offering courses or even majors in affiliate marketing. Maybe some do and I’m just not aware. You are right. Programming is one aspect, but if you want to make money you have to master the marketing/promotion too.
Jennifer Kilkenny says
Lisa, I gotta say. I went to college and earned a degree in web technologies and a certificate in web design and development. While they taught me a lot about designing databases, graphics, and PHP programming, they didn’t teach anything about SEO and all the other stuff you’re talking about throughout your site. I don’t even remember dealing with code validation through W3C.
I LOVE YOUR SITE!!! And I refered my husband to your flat stomach exercises site, and he loves that site too!
You getting me up to speed on everything I’ve missed since being out of the field, and everything that was left out in school. Again, I LOVE YOUR SITE!

Thanks Neeshes!

It’s the truth!
my blog is aimed at college girls, so it’s best to aim things that college girls are likely to be interested in–generally beauty is a good one, and anything that makes life in a dorm easier, that sort of thing! =3

Woot! That’s a lot of information to dig through. I can’t wait! But I will control myself and wait until tomorrow. 🙂

Sunny kapoor says
Hi Lisa,
One more thing, you mentioned about traffic, could you please explain how to drive traffic to our website ?
Sunny kapoor says
I totally agree with you Lisa but spending money just to test the product is sometime not feasible for most of people. i remember you said think it is an investment but If you don’t have enough money to buy stuff then whats the alternate ?
I am an IT guy with no job coz of economic conditions and now i am exploring online money making alternates. Any help will be really appreciated.

Ya Liza that was my point. I agree when you refer than you have to stand behind what you recommend.I agree click bank also contains many quality and informative products and all these products are best to recommend. But the problem with click bank is the amount of affiliates and less quality check. People creates ebooks from freelance sites and then sell them on CB( rich quick type stuff offer more commission and these products are heavily marketed by affiliates to make innocent people fool .Sorry I was a little bit harsh in my earlier comment just because you are one of my favorite personality and you always stand behind what ever you recommend.
lisa says
A lot of people don’t like ClickBank so I respect that, but I also think it depends on the quality of the products you find. I use to feel the same way about them until I actually began buying the products before I referred them to people. I’ve bought a lot of junk but then I don’t recommend that stuff. It makes a difference. You have to stand behind what you recommend.
korea sem company says
Most of the time I agree with your thoughts and what ever you say.But I don’t like click bank .Although it can generate good income but not the trust. These get rich quick ebooks, get paid for surveys,Get Google ads for free these type scam stuff is terrible on the click bank. Click bank products are also very expensive as it pays about 70% to 80 % commission.
My readers are very important for me and your post in favor of click bank has really disappointed me.
