For months, I’ve been toying with the idea of letting people rent a sub forum to promote/announce their sites/services on WebsiteBabble.com.
Now that the forum has been upgraded to the new platform (vBulletin 4.0), I am almost ready to move to the next step.
But first, I need some feedback from you.
Who Can Rent a Forum?
In the beginning, I will only open this up to people who have sites related to web design, development, programming and other technical web services.
So if you have a logo design company, you could rent a forum to showcase your latest work, offer deals and generate new business from other Website Babble members.
WebsiteBabble.com receives about 75,000 page views per month and has an average Alexa Rank of about 14,000. The forum also uses the vbSEO plugin, so every post is promptly added to the XML sitemap and submitted regularly.
Many newbies come to my forum and need help with design, development and other programming services. So this is a great promo opportunity for people who offer such help/services but don’t have enough traffic/exposure.
Benefits of Sponsorship
– You will have your own sub forum to promote your site (latest blog posts, products, services, etc).
– Ad revenue opportunities within your forum (AdSense, banners, etc.)
– Owning a sponsor forum means more dofollow backlinks to your site from another relevant, trafficked site (major SEO benefit)
– Website Babble will also promote and list the WB Sponsor forums in other locations on the forum
The WB Sponsor will be billed monthly (subscription service through PayPal) and can cancel at any time. I haven’t decided on a price yet, but I do have some numbers in my head.
I was hoping to get some feedback here before I announce the official/final cost.
Sooooo, what do you think? I welcome feedback from everyone, but I’m especially interested in hearing from those who would qualify. So based on what I’ve revealed thus far…
– If you are interested, what is the most you’d pay (per month)?
– What other benefits would entice you?
– Any other questions or comments?
A product like this could be a big win/win for myself and the sponsors involved so I’d love to get as much feedback as possible before I launch.
I probably won’t allow sites/programs related to “making money online” (unless they are purely tutorial related). There are so many scammy/sketchy sites out there and I don’t want to appear as if WB is endorsing such sites.
Your thoughts pleeeeeeeease? 😉 I may provide a free trial to people (with relevant sites) who offer great suggestions and feedback.

Truly said, a forum drives a lot of traffic but only if it has active members…A forum with inactive members is not at all beneficial.
Mark Collier says
Hi
What would happen if you canceled the sponsorship/service? Would the section come down or would you just not be able to post anymore?
Also you mentioned Adsense revenues how would this work would you place your own Adsense ads on the sub forum?
What would the expected ad revenue per visitor be on a forum
lisa says
Since Website Babble will own copyrights to the content it will come down. I could think of no other way to handle it.

I think Sharon Owen say right !
Now going on paid subscriptions

I might consider a paid subscription. No more than $30 per month. Sorry but times are hard. 🙁

Hi Lisa,
Thank you so much for all the helpful information and advice. At this time I am building my website, so I am still using my blogger to build some traffic right now. I may even pay for my domain with blogger, I’m not sure if I should. I do have my own web-hosting and domain with unlimited domain names included. I’d like to tell you more about what Im trying to do on my website, but not through this application. If you would like to hear what I have to say. Please email me. Again, the site at blogger is just for building traffic, and relationships and experimentation. I’ve got some excellent ideas, but just need help implementing them.
Thank you again,
Leilani

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for your great site and its inspiration !
I bought SBI after reading it from you and it is also from your site.
My site is related to health and it is still new. I would love to be able to rent a forum from you but as mentioned earlier my site is related to health.
Would there be a way to be a part of the forum if I promoted SBI ? to keep it relevant ?
Cheers

Well my military site wouldn’t qualify, and neither would the blog, but I think for many, it would be a terrific idea!
I did have a Learning CSS blog in the works some time ago, which would be a perfect candidate, so perhaps I should rethink it and get it going again. Right now, I just don’t have the time.
Unless someone has a good site up and running for some time and can afford a standard fee, I think you should offer up some type of introductory fee for smaller sites, so they can get their feet wet.
Arelthia says
I like the idea of Rent A Forum. Especially on Website Babble. I have found that with your forum it is not about the number of visits I get from your site. It is about getting visitors that are interested in my wordpress theme customization services. I would be interested in the increased exposure from your site.
Mitchell Allen says
Hi Lisa,
Fair enough 🙂
I’ll do my homework, learn about forums by installing one on my site and still keep an eye out for the opportunity to advertise on Website Babble.
Cheers,
Mitch
Mitchell Allen says
Hi Lisa,
I don’t qualify for the initial offering, but I would love to pay for the chance to learn how to tweak a forum.
Not that I’m expecting tutorials. What I mean is this: it is one thing to install a empty forum on a new website. It’s quite another to piggyback off a forum that’s already thriving. In the first scenario, I would never learn what works and what doesn’t, because I wouldn’t have enough visitors to measure things! In the second scenario, I would have the ability to “play” with forum features, without having to get all dirty with technology. In addition, I bet curious members would visit.
which brings up a few questions that may have already been asked:
Will Babblers have to re-register on these sub-forums?
Will non-Babblers have to register at WB first? (I assume they would, sense this is a SUB-forum, LOL).
Anyway, this is great. I’ll keep my eye on when you open it up for more businesses.
Cheers,
Mitch
lisa says
Hi Mitch
I don’t think I will be opening this up for people who want to learn how to use/install a forum. That’s not really my goal here. Plus, without Admin access you really will not be able to learn much except moving posts and threads around. And allowing people to use/access the Admin area is really the only way to see how a forum works and that would be very risky as a forum owner to give people such access.
This is for people who want to advertise their sites and need the exposure. Babblers will not have to re-register to use these forums, but just like the rest of the forum, new users will have to register to post. So as far as members/non-members go, the rules will still be the same.

I would definately like to see more about this program. I am one of those people that could greatly benefit from a program like this. My YouTube videos are targetted to those in the web building community and Website Babble is just that. I would for sure be interested if there was a “beta” phase for free trials and testing.
One suggestion is that you may want to make a video demoing the process of creating your forum and some of the features. This might make people more comfortable with what they will be getting behind the scenes. I almost always check out reviews and videos before I purchase something so it might be an idea you would consider.
Another idea would be that you might offer a free month of forum hosting in some sort of contest each month. This will ensure that you always have a sponsor and it will create buzz around the forum. Another advantage is that it would be a cheap contest on your end. The only thing that might be difficult is ensuring that the winner was a trusted sponsor. Just an idea.

What about having different levels of participation priced accordingly?
I would love to do this, although the timing for me is off (financially speaking), but if I could start small to get off the ground, I’d gladly advance up the levels.

Hey Lisa I would like to know more about this venture. I am sure I could use this type of “Forum Renting”. It is a very good idea.

Hey Lisa,
I know this is slightly off topic but I always wondered why you don’t have a newsletter (at least I don’t think you do). I would certainly subscribe even if you only used it to update us about any changes/updates to 2createawebsite, 2planawebsite and Website Babble.
Jack
lisa says
Funny you should ask because I am planning on having one again.
I actually had one some years ago and I had a horrible open-rate/conversion/participation with it that I discontinued it. I think the problem was that it wasn’t targeted enough. So some people wanted more tips on how to start a website, when I focused on that more, others complained they wanted more tips on making money, etc. The open rate/conversion was not good at all. So I discontinued it. I quickly learned that capturing your audience via email is far more challenging than I thought, but can be a valuable asset IF you master the art.
Next time I will segment and target better. I will have a list for general updates, target, etc. Lesson learned! An email list is invaluable but only if you use it well. People are way more particular about who they give their email to vs. subscribing to a feed. So you have to use those addresses wisely. (I still have the database of emails though stored in AWeber) .
MJ - Lisa Fan says
Is it possible to offer sections in a monthly newsletter: tips for web building, money making tips, SEO tips. etc. So there is something for everyone, bringing them BACK to your site?
How about an ebook or ecourse.
I’d love to get sponsored in a newsletter as well, or like the previous comment noted, even if it’s monthly
It’s hard to please everyone so perhaps a quick survey to see what the majority of your readers prefer.
lisa says
Absolutely! I’d just rather send out a more targeted letter. Fortunately AWeber makes that easy to do. Plus, I don’t know if I’d want to compose such a lengthy newsletter each time.
MJ says
Are you going to introduce each new sponsor in your newsletter as well? 😉
lisa says
These are all great suggestions. Thanks so much for the feedback. This is so important as I map this out. I don’t really send a regular newsletter anymore but I will definitely promote the sponsors elsewhere on the forum. Just haven’t figured out where yet.
MJ - Lis Fan says
I love the idea of the sponsors being on the same page.
I admit, links leading to another page worries me that more clicks needed brings chances that the advertisers don’t get seen as much, as compares with them being easier to see without any extra clicks.
Over time, it sounds like a limited number would work better, for more exposure. So later Lisa, you could even charge MORE due to the limited space. Or charge another lower fee for those who elect to have an extra click from the main page to where their ad(s) are located.
Hope this makes sense ok.
Thanks again, Lisa. I truly look forward to trying out your new program.
With kind regards,
MJ
gen says
Why not just Have a sponsors page with small banners And then have on front page two link: one that says please support our sponcers directing them to the sponsors page. And anther that says to see special offerings a deals from our sponsor please go to the sponsors forums.
Another option is to have a scrolling sponsors list on your home page. And maybe limit to sponsers who have paid extra to be listed on home page.
MJ - Lisa Fan says
Gen, I ignore banners, and mostly unintentionally. If a banner is in addition, it would seem ok.
I also like the idea of the sponsors rotating on another page(s), but I’d rather it said something like: “services for additional web/blog building success”, for example.
Being introduced as a sponsor seems a bit impersonal, IMHO.
lisa says
It has already been proven that banners perform poorly for me on this particular site so this is not an option. But I do appreciate the suggestions. I’m reading them all! Thank you. 🙂
sam says
WB has three categories. I’m assuming there will be a 4th category for sponsors which will be broken in to different sub-categories or different sponsors?
lisa says
Exactly, Sam. Now I’m trying to decide if I want to have that link to a sub forum that lists all the sponsors (so my homepage won’t be so long) or limit the sponsors and have them listed on the homepage. Tough call. I definitely think it would attract more business if the link to each sponsor’s forum is on the homepage, but I’m concerned about the length of my homepage. Plus if I only link to the sub forum I won’t have to limit the amount of advertisers.
sam says
i’d add the 4th category to the homepage and break the sponsors up within it…based on sub-categories and their offerings. i agree on the length of the page issue. based on that…it’s just how you drive your members to the category. also…i’d say 20 sponsors for variety at 40-50$ each/mth or so, think that’s a good price.
Jack says
Hello Lisa,
I think the idea of limiting the forums at one time but you may also wish to charge a different price from a link on the homepage and also offer a sub forum too.
Jack
Austin Duffie says
I totally like this idea, but! with how many people that are likely to use this wouldn’t it make your forum’s home page long? Like if you had 50 subbers yes that’s a lot of profit but the add on of 50 sub-forums would make the forum list very long and annoying do you agree?
lisa says
I’ve thought about this and may limit to 10 or so at a time. Or I could create a main title forum on the homepage and then you’d have to click to get to the listing of sponsor forums. The only problem with this is the sponsorship would lose some value because I’m sure people would want their forums to be listed from the homepage. So that’s another thing I’m trying to sort through.
Sam says
is there an unlimited number of sub-forums…or a set number to help max traffic return for the buyers?
David says
Sounds interesting. It might just be useful for all involved parts. Great forum anyway 🙂
1099 Tax Forms says
Excellent Idea. Thanks for this great post.
Vinfotech says
Hey many thanks for this post. It’s a great site especially for the sites getting less traffic.
AnuqCyrus says
I like the idea, since I see that this the site is rated pretty well according to Alexa, I would be willing to pay for a few months at a time. For example 3 month blocks.
lisa says
Cool! It would only be a month term so you’d be able to cancel at any time.
Ileane @ BloggerLuv says
Hi Lisa, looks like you have answered all of my questions here in the comments section and if the fee is anywhere between $10 – $50 per month, I’m in.
This set-up reminds me of a BuddyPress blog, where I would get to go behind the scenes like an admin but without total access to servers and cpanel. I’d call it a mini-admin. It would be an excellent opportunity to learn how the software works and step towards eventually creating my own forum.
Austin Duffie says
Yea, your right that would teach a lot about forums and I want to start a forum too and this would teach me the basics!
Ty says
Lisa, how will you handle those forums that might damage your reputation with negative comments, or derogatory statements. Will you have something in your terms to state that its not allowed, and if so how will you monitor it.
Thanks and all the best
lisa says
First of all, I wouldn’t accept a sponsor who was advertising a site with questionable content/products. So I’m not too worried about the reputation piece. Moderating the potential sponsors beforehand will be important. Second, derogatory comments will be handled just like they are handled on the rest of the forum. They aren’t allowed (by the sponsor or those posting comments in the sponsor’s forum). The terms are going to be very, very thorough and updated frequently, I’m sure.

Thanks Lisa, It is a great and well thought out idea, looking forward to seeing it come to life.

I was going to suggest being careful that people don’t take up the sponsorship offer and then spam the place, but you mentiond it right at the bottom.
I’d also like to suggest a trial period at a reduced price so people can test out the service?
Ann says
Hi Lisa:
I think you have an excellent idea because with the addition of others in the web business added to your site, you have expanded the variation of solutions to web issues that are out there. You have more voices talking on the same subject so that if a visitor wants a lot of points of view for ideas or inspiration, then this is the site to visit. I use SBI to build my site and I chose it based on your recommendation and I am slowly and methodically building my site. Lots of good advice here at your site. This new idea will add to that. Thanks.

Hi Lisa – super idea! I would be interested but I probably wouldn’t qualify since I would be promoting my affiliate marketing course and site. But if it helps you in pricing, I’ll give you my input anyway.
I think that kind of thing could easily be worth hundreds of $ per month, but I too would want to find out first whether it would bring me the traffic I hoped for. So some sort of trial period or even $50 to $75 a month would be reasonable in my opinion.
Can’t wait to see how it goes for you!
Kyle says
Awesome idea! Why don’t you also offer “Banners” for advertising instead of a section? Those could also work very well. I have a coding forum and computer related so I would love to try this out! I could give you feedback accordingly.
lisa says
I have tried banner advertising on WB before and it didn’t perform well at all. Also, I’m testing banner ads with AdSense right now and the results are so so. So that is my litmus test for banner advertising. I probably won’t be offering that any time soon. No point if my customers aren’t going to get the clicks and traffic.
I think a rented forum will offer much more exposure opps.
SiteFloor.COM says
Hi Lisa,

Thanks Lisa, I think you have cleared up all of my initial questions now.
“I can already tell, the T&C’s for this is going to be super duper long! LOL”
I think you’re right there lol. As long as you remember to add “I maintain the right to modify/add any terms at any time” you will be alright.
Jack
Jack says
Hello Lisa,
Thanks for clearing that up. I’m actually very excited about this and look forward to your follow up post.
3) That’s fantastic news! I didn’t actually know that you were talking about a forum but rather a thread. I’d certainly say that prices should be around the $40/month mark. Certainly not any cheaper than that but then again how much benefit advertisers see from this will depend on how well they use this opportunity.
I’m also very happy about that. Something I forgot to ask. I’m currently trying to offer other services under the brand Zomex such as wordpress integration and configuration etc. Since it’s still part of the Zomex brand would it be OK to post about those services as well as web hosting? You may even wish to limit the amount of products/services offered per brand as some people do literally everything.
I think the fact that you are not allowing affiliate links is perfect as that will cut out 90% of those who may attempt to abuse this. Otherwise people may post things like I will create your blog if you buy hosting from this affiliate link etc.
I completely agree. Also the majority of visitors to Website Babble are generally new to affiliate marketing etc so if they see something such as a “guide to millions e book” on the forum they could see it as being approved by you/Website Babble.
Thanks,
Jack
lisa says
Since that service is relevant to your entire company/brand then I would allow that. My main concern is affiliate links to products that aren’t necessarily an extension of the brand.
In fact, these are the kinds of sponsors/services I am hoping to attract. Since most new members of WB are looking for help with WordPress and setting up websites, these kinds of sponsors fit in very well with the WB brand.
And perhaps if people want a sub forum of their forum then that would be an additional fee per month but probably a fourth of the cost of the initial fee. For example, $40/month for 1st forum and $10/month for each additional, etc. The sub forum would be linked to the main forum but not visible from the WB homepage like the sponsor’s main forum would be.
Now, what would NOT be OK is someone renting a forum to promote their “make money online site” and they started created threads to promote various pyramid schemes or “make money online” programs and products.
That’s why I’d really like to only allow people who actually have services or reseller stores that sell products such as yourself because it could get tricky with pure affiliate marketing sites.
Price is tricky so I appreciate the feedback. I definitely want it to be appropriate for the level of exposure the sponsor will receive and I also want it to deter the get rich quick promoters.
I can already tell, the T&C’s for this is going to be super duper long! LOL
Theresa says
Hi Lisa! I, too, am interested. I’ve often entertained the idea of doing a forum, but the webmastering of it all just means more time – which is such a limited quantity. Also driving decent, related traffic to it becomes another matter – more work, again not enough time. Someone else (you) setting it all up, now that’s a different story 🙂
I would also be interested in a trial period – depending on how much work that would be for you to “create” and you, as the webmaster, to remove should a person not stick with it.
Sponsoring anything at a great price is worth investigating (I did double check your traffic stats, but that’s not an insult, just due diligence).
The other thing to keep in mind is the current economy. Personally, living in Nevada, and with a husband over a year without a job, I’m extremely choosy now on what I’d get involved with on a monthly basis.
I see the definite benefit(s) for websitebabble – extra link building for the specific domain, more search engine attention, growth in the number of pages for the domain, etc. – which you don’t personally need to do the work for. The sponsor benefits indirectly – by mention of a said promo or what have you and link value inside one’s sponsor forum area, along with potential traffic (but traffic is never anything anyone can “guarantee”).
Anyway I ramble. I’m curious, but counting pennies. As the sole source around here for an entire family, every single copper piece counts. Across the country, places vary, and I just happen to get caught in the worse place at the wrong time – hubby is working on that (to get us out of here and somewhere where there is life again LOL!).
You must have some idea what you’d charge for a sponsorship… care to disclose?
lisa says
Thanks Theresa! Yes, the economy is also something to consider. I am probably looking between $25 and $45 per month. So far everyone’s feedback on price has been in line with what I’ve been thinking.
Making sure the sponsor gets the maximum exposure is going to be my top priority. After all, if you’re happy with traffic and exposure, you’re going to renew. And the good thing is, you’ll be able to see how many views each thread you post has because that’s a standard feature with the vBulletin forum.
As I said in another post, I will also be promoting the sponsors in other areas of the forum to help draw in more traffic to the sub forums.
Setting up the trial period would be a piece of cake on my end. Adding a new forum and removing it takes no time. In fact, I’ve already completed a lot of the backend work.
My main project now is creating the terms and deciding what is allowed.
Also, how successful this will be for each sponsor also depends on how efficiently they run their own forum and that will take some trial and error on your part. And of course, I will work with you to give you ideas on what to do.
Remember that most of the members of WB are new and looking for traffic and help with websites so it’s important to operate your forum with that key fact in mind.
I have a feeling it’s going to be tempting for many sponsors to create threads to announce/promote their sites but what WB members are really looking for is information and tutorials. So learning how to develop useful advice that subtly leads people to your product/service will be key.
Jack says
Hello Lisa,
I always wondered whether you were going to open something like this as I see great potential for everyone involved. I have always wanted to reach members on Website Babble with a bit more space to play around with compared to the signature. I think it’s a fantastic idea and I will certainly be interested in trying this out. What I like the most is the fact that you’re only going to allow products/services that will be good for your members (No more get rich quick e books 🙂 If you decide to offer a free trial/cheaper first month I will certainly be interested in trying it out. I have seen similar things on other forums but what sets this apart is that the Website Babble community is simply amazing because everyone is so close and friendly. I post on over 50 website related forums but something about the Website Community is special.
A couple of questions/suggestions:
– Will we be able to post images (e.g logo)?
– Will you create a separate forum for products and another for services or will that depend on how many advertisers you get?
– I imagine that spammers will try and post their offers underneath those who are renting space. I don’t have any experience with vBulletin so I’m not sure how this works but would it be possible to give your advertisers the ability to remove replies on their own thread? E.g if I post about my web hosting and someone replied with “I think —-.com have the best deal” will I be able to remove that post? If we could moderate our own space that would not only help you and the forum mods but ourselves and the forum visitors as well.
—
As far as prices go it’s really hard to say since this is a fairly new concept. I know some forums charge up to $10 per post but they drop as other people post. I have also seen forums charge certain amounts to make their adverts more bold. I think I would be prepared to pay $20-$40/month but of course it’s hard to say without trying it. Will you create a new follow up post once you have looked into prices etc?
Thanks,
Jack
lisa says
Hi Jack,
1) Yes you can post logos and images.
2) I probably won’t have a separate forum for products and services as of now. But with your sub forum, you could create stickies and have an ongoing thread at the top of your forum that lists your products and services.
3) The sponsor will have complete control over the sub forum. They will be able to delete and edit posts if they wish. So if someone posts something that can hurt your brand, you are free to delete the posts.
But I will also be very strict about making sure people stick to promoting things on the sponsoring domain. For example, you will be able to promote your own products and services for zomex, etc. but I will not allow people to post affiliate links and threads for other products (affiliate programs they belong to, etc.)
This is where I want to maintain some level of quality control and make sure people aren’t promoting shady things. At the end of the day, the sponsors are still under the WB brand so it’s important I monitor what is being promoted.
So I will thoroughly review each site that wants to be considered and make sure the terms and conditions are clear before the sponsor is active.
I have a lot of little details to work out yet. That’s why this trial will be so important.
I am definitely going to do this and will create a follow-up post and announcement on WB when this is ready. It’s just a matter of time and I need to really think this through and set the terms and conditions before launching. I still have a lot to consider so that’s why I will likely do a free trial with a few advertisers. So thank you for your feedback!
GEn says
I actually am planning on doing this for local sponsorship for local business to hve a forum or thread to post their latest offers or coupons ect… I was thinking you probably do not have to have an entire forum for each sponsor but rather on “Sponsors Forum” and the allow them once a month to create a new thread that they can add to the entire month. When they are sponsors they no longer have access to creating a thread.
Jonny Rowntree says
I have entered forums in the past, which were on not popular websites (maybe traffic of about 100+ page views per week) and they were run brilliantly, but just needed more users and conversation topics.
However, I have run forums on my own website (which gathers 300-400+ page views per week) and it didn’t entertain many members of my audience. They liked to comment on my posts and share their thoughts that way, although it seems a lot of work to write a blog post for me, it benefits me, which is nice!
Buzinessware says
Great post for forum & Drive Traffic.
Warren says
You might want to think about who owns the content. After the rental period can the host take the content and post it in their own website or do you have rights to it? Or maybe it’s shared.
Something to thinks about.
lisa says
Excellent point! Something else to write up in my terms and conditions! See, this is why I like asking for feedback. You guys and gals are great!
Josh says
Something like this sounds like a really good idea. I honestly think that to rent a forum on WB it would be worth $1000 per month, but I don’t think too many webmasters would be able to afford that. You could probably charge $250 and $500 for others, depending on their site.
lisa says
Based on my traffic, I don’t think I’d even charge anything close to that. It will definitely be under $100 per month, but of course if traffic grew, I would increase the prices accordingly.
Josh says
You’re probably right. Starting off at $100 per month would probably be about right. I over-estimated the traffic of the site. By the way I love your blog.
MJ says
Wow! Sounds like the cost will be much higher for this concept. I look forward to seeing how you work this all out.
Best wishes, Lisa
MJ - Lisa Fan says
I would like to ask for a bit more clarification, if this is ok?
Re: >>- You will have your own sub forum to promote your site (latest blog posts, products, services, etc).<<
Does this mean that it's not a 'true' ad per se, and is instead a branch of a forum that 'belongs' to the advertister?
Does this give you the ability to create posts at whim? Or is there a limit to the number of posts, if so?
Can you interact with forum members at your own sub forums(s)?
Will there be a limit to the number of sub forums rented per section or per forum?
I rarely grab 'specials' like "Grab the first month for a penny!' type trials, but most likely -in this case- it would be welcome, if anything – to gauge response for that month and see if it fits your business enough to continue.
Once you get tried-and-true testimonials up, stating how successful (or not) their renting went, 'free months' trials' may not be needed (?).
Oh and seeing as how you are really vamping up the exposure by cross referencing, etc – very cool.
lisa says
Great questions!
Yes, this is way more than an ad. You will get a full-fledged sub forum. So there will be a section called WB Sponsors and each sponsor will get their own forum with a description like the other sub forums on WB. So they can create/delete thread and posts, interact with other members, add polls, etc. I will even give them the option of letting other members create threads or not. So they can set it up that people can reply to their threads but cannot create new ones. It will be up to the sponsor.
Unlike regular members, they will be able to create new threads and posts that announce various things about their sites or blogs.
Right now, I’m only allowing one sub forum and no additional ones, but I may offer that option as an additional fee.
MJ - Lisa Fan says
I agree with Kiesha that it’s probably worth much more, but again it really depends on how many interested folks (at the WB forum) who would be able to see the ‘ads’.
If I knew that a good 4,000 folks would see it (business ad) per month, as compared with 100 forum members per month, the price expectation would be different, of course.
It does seem like it would be well-focused traffic, especially as members here know that Lisa wouldn’t promote just anything.
Again, hope this helps.

Exactly. That’s why I would do my part and make sure I promote the sponsor forums in other common areas of the forum. I am also working on doing much more cross promotion with 2 Create a Website to build even more traffic to WB.
Thanks so much for all the excellent feedback everyone. Much appreciated. Keep it coming!

Wow Lisa, this is a really innovative idea!
I’d definitely be interested in renting a forum. As far as payment goes – what it’s worth and what I can afford are two entirely different things. I’d be willing to pay $30-40/mo. maybe even $50 – but I have to be honest, I think something like this is worth much more.
I’d love to do a test drive, so when you decide on the free trials, please consider me. 🙂

Terrific idea, Lisa. I love and excel at giving website reviews with excellent suggestions and recommendations for successfully run sites (not promo, merely giving you my background and theme).
You may have completely different numbers in mind, but guessing …. I’d pay anywhere from $10/mo – $20/mo, $30-$50/3 months, etc. Possibly (probably) higher, depending on the number of regular forum members and number of new registrants (to Website Babble) per month.
Hope this helps.

WOW!!! This sounds like something that I would like to get into. I would definitely want to rent a forum on the Website Babble forums.
This is a great opportunity for some webmasters. Thanks Lisa 😀
