This journey of hosting my courses and creating a membership site (phase II) has highlighted things that have bothered me about this site.
The biggest issue is it covers too much ground. You may have even heard me mention in podcasts that this is not really a niche site.
Well as I embark on this big project, I won’t ignore it anymore.
As Kim George put it, “It’s time to address the elephant in the room.” And my reply was “That elephant has been sitting on my face for years now!”
That’s some visual isn’t it? 😉
The Monster I Created
When I first launched this site in 2002, it only covered tips on creating a website.
My content was pretty focused. I had tutorials and info on software, (Anyone remember that gawwwd awful FrontPage?) CSS and HTML.
At the time, it was very common for people to build their sites this way. Obviously WordPress was not mainstream then.
Then I started doing well with affiliate marketing and fell in love with creating YouTube videos.
I began haphazardly creating tons of videos on anything from ebooks, AdSense, YouTube tips, affiliate marketing, to Canva, CSS, video intros, editing WordPress themes and more!
And I DO mean haphazardly! But that was primarily because I enjoy making videos so much.
Seriously, I could sit behind a camera and talk all day. (Hence those really long videos. Hey, my bad. LOL)
Well, all that lack of focus came with a price. Who cares if I have 80,000 YouTube subscribers if so many of them have many different needs and not engaged?
I’d much rather have 2,000 subscribers that are more targeted.
Also, my inbox is like a hodgepodge of messages on every topic you can imagine in this space.
I get questions ranging from link building, starting an ecommerce site, Joomla help, turnkey MLM website advice, advanced coding, and dozens of other topics that aren’t really in my wheelhouse.
But who can blame them?
When you have a broader site about creating a website/blogging and cover so many topics on your blog and YouTube channel, that’s bound to happen, right?
People aren’t sure how I can really help them, and they often assume I am proficient in every area regarding websites when I’m not.
In addition to that, the Internet marketing landscape has changed a lot. I want to make sure that what I launch is relevant and…
- Something I enjoy
- Something I’m competent in
- Something that’s in demand
(Hint: It won’t have anything to do with SEO, I can tell you that much!) I want to get as faaaaaaaaar away from that as possible. 🙂
I found myself going back and forth with the overall direction of this project.
I know I have the passion to teach and tons to share, but what do I really WANT to teach long-term in this ever evolving online space?
Helloooooooo Coach!
All this indecision led me to hire a coach. (Thanks Kim, for your inspiration!)
I’m currently in Messaging Boot Camp, and it is whipping me into mental shape!
I’m learning how important it is for everything I do to have a direct, clear message so people know who I am AND how I can help them.
Well, that’s NOT what I’ve been doing here on this site or on YouTube. My content is all over the place and it’s time for me to pick a lane, stay in that lane and make sure my messaging describes the lane I’m in!
He’s teaching me how to use the right wording so I attract the right people and ONLY the right people.
It’s Not Just About Having a Niche
I learned how important it is to have a niche audience when I launched Napturally Curly.
I’m really proud of that site. I never thought it would make much money. It was more of a hobby site spawned by my love of teaching, and it surpassed all expectations.
Even though it earns less money than this one, it’s actually been more successful in terms of conversions because my audience is so laser focused.
It’s a true niche site.
OK… so having a niche is one thing, but the second part of that is making sure my messaging (throughout all types of content) speaks to a very specific person.
That is what is missing from THIS site. So not only is it about picking a lane, but I’m learning how to write in a very different way.
Whew!!! What a journey this is. I’m being challenged in so many ways, but it’s a good thing. If it were easy, my coach would not be doing his job, right?
Sometimes you need to get an outside perspective and hiring a coach was one of the best decisions I could have ever made… especially as I embark on something that is so new and involved.
By the way, I will be introducing you to my coach when coaching is done. My plan is to do a podcast with all the players involved. It’s gonna be juicy!
I’m entering a new phase, and I want to make sure I do this right!
I told you in another post that my content is about to grow up. I meant it. I am going to have so much to share when this is all said and done.
So if this blog gets quiet and you don’t hear from me, don’t worry, I haven’t gone anywhere.
I’m taking time to get my messaging and branding together.
Finally! 🙂
This internet biz has been very good to me, and I feel blessed to have the luxury of taking my time with this.
OK, off to do my homework for the week.
Later!
FWB says
It’s really great to see how people in the Internet business change and adapt their ways, for the better. I totally understand picking a topic and really focusing on it – it’s better to be an expert in one thing than to be average, or sub-par, at everything.
Lori Samples says
I struggled with this on my site too. There were soooo many things I wanted to write about. I had to take a step back and think about what I really wanted my site to offer. Even though I am more focused, I still have plenty of work to do to.
Your site is still a very good resource and I wish you all the best with your coach.

Good thing you mentioned you made mistakes. It shows people you’re down to Earth and not superficial. Content marketing is good money and no matter how much or little experience a person has with it, they can always use it to their affiliate marketing and business revenue generating advantage.
shirleyb says
Just want to wish you the very best in your new niche. I certainly do understand your need/decision to re-focus. And I like the idea for getting a coach. Sometimes we get so caught up in a project, it becomes difficult to see what and how it really works. I hope to be able to follow along with your new niche if for no other reason than to learn how its done.
PS: I’ve been getting your emails but am just now finding some time to check in on you. I too have been working a new big topic but trying to narrow down some part of it to a niche.
terinah doba says
I agree that a few targeted followers is better than tons who are not engaged. I have 13k twitter followers who doesn’t give a second look at whatever I post.. That’s just sad! 😀

WOW!
I am sooo EXCITED for you Lisa. And I am sooo HUMBLY sorry that I haven’t discovered time to follow up on the 100’s of emails we get. So that .. I can absorb your delightful wisdom.
My heart went RUMP! BUMP! BUMP! You scared me, Lisa. I wasn’t sure whether you were planning to give up on 2Create-A-Website or not. It’s soothing to know you’ll still be here. RIGHT! 🙂
CHANGE:
I find that change is something is something necessary. Not only from being in business online, but also in the land of the living. I also find that so many seem to fear “change” for whatever their reasons may be.
Change is good — it’s healthy — it is also necessary when you expect larger or better rewards life offers. The door really isn’t closed. We just have to open it up. 🙂
Change sometimes means that our focal point should be narrowed down to a “PINPOINT” when our expectations are to excel forward.
I struggled, Lisa so long with an extremely broad topic-theme. I felt like I was bouncing back and forth from off the wall constently — many years. UNITL! I stumbled across you and YOUR guiding site.
I applaud you, Lisa. Encouraging relies too.
Godspeed in you new project venture.
Kevin R.
Kevin R says
PS: Lisa, will fix the double words? It’s my software. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks!

Hey Lisa, thanks for your help on Twitter just now! It means a lot to me that you responded, especially a person of your caliber! 🙂 Just read your post and I’m in the same bind. I started my blog talking about network marketing, but I have since branched off into helping people with anxiety, social phobia and narcissism! Yes, I know! But, my traffic has gone up and as a new blogger I don’t care right now how Niched out my followers are! I just want to help people and eventually I will mature into a niche. Thanks again for all your helpful content and your response on Twitter!

All this talk about finding a lane and dialing in your messaging is making me a little nervous. Not that it’s not the right thing, of course. I mean, we DO want you happy, Lisa, and this new focus may admittedly be best for the business.
Nevertheless, I’m feeling a little fear and trepidation because I don’t want to lose you to a laser focused niche. I love that you teach on such a wide variety of marketing topics and include the nuts and bolts. Yep, I guess that make me one of those selfish schmucks your coach warns about.
It’s just that you have a special gift, Lisa. You teach with such clarity and precision, that it’s easy to want you to teach EVERYTHING. Even though we know you can’t.
In any case, it will be interesting to see where this new direction takes you. And wherever that is, all the best and continued success to you.
Lisa Irby says
I can tell this made a few people nervous based on a few comments here and on FB.
First of all, teaching too many topics is not good for conversions. I’ve known this for a long time but never fixed it because I wasn’t sure what lane I wanted to dive into.
The other issue is many of the topics I’ve been known to blog about have either evolved, I’m no longer interested in or they’ve died (SEO, AdSense, etc.) So unfortunately, yes. Some of you are not going to be interested in my new niche site. But I have to do what’s best for business long-term.
The good news is, I will always continue with my teaching here on this blog/site to share what I’ve learned about launching my first self-hosted product and so I see myself continuing to use this blog, podcast to share my journey. So the content here is going to be more entrepreneurial focused and I’ve decided to keep 2 Create as it is and will be using my new niche site for the new lane.
I have no desire to become a snake oil saleswoman. I just need to get better at conversions, landing pages, etc. This will allow me to invest my energy into doing what I love (teaching) with a much more laser focused niche/audience so when I sell premium products, I can convert.
And what’s even better is when I learn to do that better, I can teach it here. So when I say my content is going to grow up, I just mean I’m going to focus more on entrepreneurial topics and get better at conversions. But you know me… whatever I learn, I will share here.
I will probably do another blog post/video because I can tell this made people a little nervous. I don’t think I explained all this well. lol
James says
Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply, Lisa! Yeah, we’re nervous because we know in our heart of hearts that your new laser focused niche is the right thing. Sort of like the feeling a proud parent might feel when Pedro and Maria go off to college. The parents know its the right thing. But they’re still a little nervous about it.
This nervousness is actually a testament to how well you teach. In this day and age, finding straight answers to any how-to question is a pain. Typically, those answering the questions or telling us how to do stuff, never explain how to actually do it. Or they provide such shoddy answers, that the information is worse than useless because in addition to not clearly explaining how to do it, they also waste your time.
But with you, we all know that we are going to get straight answers and clear explanations. That’s the kind of value that will drive readers to buy a product from you to show real world appreciation, even if they don’t necessarily have an interest or need for the product.
In other words, we love and appreciate all the great content you have provided, but want nothing but the best for you going forward. Cheers to your new niche and much success in all you do!
Lisa Irby says
No…. thank YOU! It’s comments like yours, James, that keep me humble and remind me why I love what I do. Many of you really seem to love my teaching style and no matter what, I’ll make sure I stick to that because that is the core of my brand. But as I said, this isn’t goodbye. 2 Create will still be here for updates and anyone selling their own products will relate to some of the future content. So just look at it as a shift in focus here while I take you guys on my new journey. 🙂 At first I was going to niche down here, but I’ve decided to do a new niche site altogether and use this site to keep you updated on what I’m learning. So I’m not going anywhere. Thanks again, James. Your comments really mean a lot.
James says
Thanks again Lisa, that’s good news! And keeping us updated as you trek up and down the mountains and valleys of your new journey will likely be like a marketing seminar in and of itself. Looking forward to seeing what’s popping.
Sean Carey says
Hello, Lisa!
I just stopped by to see what new articles you’d written and found this one! Good stuff, and I imagine what you’re doing is only going to be improving what you have to offer. This message rings true with me as well, as I feel that I need to focus on writing content that is for a specific person. It’s one thing to niche down to a specific topic, but I’m also learning that you can niche down to a specific demographic. If you can do both, viola! 🙂
On a side-note, all of my stumbling around has led me to pursue a very specific field. I realized that while I enjoy the marketing side of websites and blogs, what I really enjoy is writing. I am now pursuing Freelance Writing and just wrote my first job pitch! I’ve been focusing on improving my grammar, so I hope these paragraphs here show that.
Anyhow, I can also see you’re progressing and look forward to checking out the new direction you are going in. Best wishes, Lisa, and thank you for all you’ve done over the years! 🙂
Lisa Irby says
Heeeeeey, Sean! That’s such an important revelation you made. And that’s why it’s a journey. That’s awesome that you’ve discovered what you really enjoy because that will help you hone your focus.
I tell people all the time…. you have to find something other than the desire to make a ton of money to drive you out here. What’s going to keep you motivated while you are out here learning and on the journey?
For me, it’s definitely teaching but I’m discovering that what I teach is going to change in the future. And that’s OK. As long as I build upon what I enjoy and excel at, then it’s going to be A-OK.
Glad you stopped by to say Hi. Keep me posted!
Darren says
Hi Sean,
I also decided to check out Lisa’s blog to see what’s going on. I’ve got to be careful to make sure my own site doesn’t spin off in too many directions. At its core, it’s about web design and development for small businesses, but sometimes I write about related topics too.
Writing really is great and very enjoyable, and since last year I’ve been reading 2 hours daily – actual books – to try to hone the craft. There’s an excellent book by Stephen King called “On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft” which is an absolute must for copywriters.
The pursuit of meat and potatoes prose versus the complicated word salad is what crystallizes the main message the author wishes to convey.
Teaching is fun Lisa, it’s something I’d like to deliver by developing my public speaking. Writing is “refined thought” but speaking I see more akin to performance.
How long do you spend writing by the way? I can spend as much as 30 hours on one post – adding, subtracting, tweaking, expanding etc. There comes a point when you have to set it free but I enjoy polishing.
Lisa Irby says
Hey Darren,
Yep. Teaching is definitely fun and this new angle/space I will be moving toward will allow me to do a lot more of it.
It takes me days to write posts because I come back the next day and refine. Then I refine again. Then I’ll add, subtract, etc. You should see my WordPress revision count when I’m finally done. LOL
Glad to see ya here!
Lena says
Hey there, Lisa!
I stopped by to see what one of my very favorite digital personalities was talking about and Whoaaa…I see you’re making excellent moves, as usual! I am a so glad you’re sharing your journey with us because, coincidentally, this is exactly where I’m stuck.
I’ve been trying to finding my niche so I can cater to that specifically targeted audience, the “cream of the crop”, and deliver the “right” message through quality content. Woo, smh CHALLENGE! I’m almost there, but I do see that I have got to at least get the ball rolling now and improve things as I go. You’ve, in essence, let me know that I’m on the right track.
Since you’ve put a nice array of content out there over the years, I just really want to say thank you. I’ve learned so much and I’m finally about to reap the benefits! I’m so excited to see your growth and the direction in which you’re headed.
Great Luck!!!
Lisa Irby says
Wow! Comments like this make me smile. I’m so glad my content has helped you over the years and I wish you all the best too! There’s this misconception online that you need a large following to make money. Not necessarily true when you have a very focused site targeted to a specific person and sell great products. I’m not after big markets. Just markets I know I can help the most and every piece of content needs to focus on that market.
Tommy says
Great post,
When I started a site in 2013, it’s exactly what I was through, so many topics, so many posts. I felt exhausted trying to come up with new content for a specific topic, with the fear that audience from other topic would leave me.
So I stopped to find me some peace, and reading your post reminds me of how diverse I was.
Focus is everything.
Lisa Irby says
Yesssssssss! That’s exactly it!
Margie says
I’m happy to discover your site! I learned a lot watching one of your WordPress videos & I enjoyed reading this latest update. It’s the message I keep reading as I do a lot of online business research. I’m interested to see how things shape up for you.
I have a specific question for you about the Daily Dish theme. Is there any way at all – for someone who is tech comfortable but has barely dabbled in code – to change the color on the headers (default black) in Daily Dish? I’ve looked around and can’t seem to find a fix any where. Thanks for your help!
Lisa Irby says
Thanks Margie! Go to Appearance >> Editor and do a control F to find .nav-secondary {
Underneath that you should see background-color: #222; You can change this to another color. You can use a hex color like they used or you can just use “red”, “purple”, etc. I have a course for non techies that shows you how to figure out what to change on your WordPress site and I use Genesis themes as an example. Here’s a coupon if you’re interested. http://www.2createawebsite.com/customizewp

Lisa,
This website is successful because of the personal touch it has combined with the way you teach.
Don’t lose that with worrying too much if this on or off message.
Lisa Irby says
Those two things will never change and are part of my brand. This boot camp is going to help me more with landing page writing etc. when I launch my products. Plus I’m going to niche down. Don’t worry. The tone on my articles and keep it real personal touch isn’t going anywhere.
Robert Andrew says
Thanks Lisa,
Nice post. And glad you continue to want to improve in all aspects of Marketing. Niche Marketing is an easier game to play, imo.
I do love your Site but Iam sure it can be tough with the Visitor who can be composed of all kinds of demographics and wanting to learn about multiple aspects in Marketing and Website development.
And I really look forward to seeing the introduction of your Coach when you’re thru with that 🙂

Hey Lisa,
I guess Don Purdum is your coach. That guy is the man 😉
BTW, 2000 targeted is better than 20000 random subscribers as you put it. More profit comes in when people feel properly addressed and that’s the real sense of targeting.
Heyhey!
Don’t forget part of your homework for the week is responding to these comments 😉
Lisa Irby says
LOL! Yes sir. I’m on it now. Although I don’t really consider this homework. This has always been the fun part of what I do. 🙂 I wish developing my many messaging statements was this easy. ha ha ha!
Clarence says
Wish I could be there rubbing your feet and chatting about Social Media advertising strategies, and content brainstorming LOL.
Great post as usual Lisa. Content Marketing, and writing good focused content is the key.
I need to start focusing on my “voice” in my content to drive me engagement, and an outside perspective is something i really need, maybe I need to start looking for a mentor of coach also.
Lisa Irby says
Funny you say that ’cause I really DO need a foot rub right now! lol
Ken Reed says
I think it’s great that at THIS stage of the game you are still open to suggestions and “coaching”. I’m betting that most of the people who earn (and I emphasize EARN) a living from the internet are so full of themselves that they are afraid to acknowledge a need for improvement on their audience-targeting skills. Your humility is inspiring! I will never achieve the level of success that you have, but I’m thankful for every bit of knowledge that I gain from your website and your guidance. Keep up the great work and please keep us informed of how the coaching has helped and perhaps a few content-writing pointers 🙂
Thank you Lisa!
Lisa Irby says
This is an awesome compliment. Thank you!! I don’t care how much success anyone has had we could all use guidance from others….especially when you shift gears and get into something new in your business.
One thing I’ve learned is that I excel at certain things like teaching but there are parts of marketing that I have to get better with. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses.
My friend made a great point and she said all entrepreneurs should get coaching every few years because there will always be something new to learn or you may need to make a shift that requires analysis and help. No one is every above being coached, no matter how much money they’ve made.
I will admit, I can be too much of a DIYer sometimes, so this is a new leaf for me. I’m learning to not feel I have to do everything myself and to get a new perspective.
Thank you so much for following and I am looking forward to sharing more later. This is going to be a long road, but I’m up for it! Really appreciate what you said. THAT is humbling.
Adrienne says
Well congratulations Lisa, I did the same thing last year and it exploded my business. Once I became much more focused on delivering a solid message, people were no longer confused about how I could help them. Of course with my news today all of that is going bye bye but it was an experience I don’t regret but highly recommend to anyone building a business and especially blogging.
You are just one of those people who knows so much stuff so that’s why people come to you for just about everything. Once you narrow that down then you’ve going to have even more success and I’m thrilled for you.
I’ll have to occasionally stop by and see if you’re back to blogging. I know you’ll be eager to share your experience with your audience and I definitely with you the very best.
~Adrienne
Lisa Irby says
Thank you Adrienne! So very excited about your new venture.
I really do enjoy so many things about this business that it’s hard for me to focus and narrow it down, but you’re right… as well as I’ve done, I could be doing 10x better with more focus.
This might mean big changes and it’s a bit scary, but as long as I’m having fun, it will carry me where I need to go.
Good to see ya here! I hope you keep in touch.
Kenneth C Young says
I am happy for you that the internet has blessed you however has not been that way for me. It is apparently clear that if one does not have the gift for article writing and a wanted niche then one will not make it in the Internet World of business.
Lisa Irby says
That’s not true at all Kenneth! I think everyone assumes you have to ONLY make money one way. You can sell products, you can do a number of things online. Not everyone HAS to be a niche blogger at all. I think the bigger issue is that everyone assumes that’s the route you have to take. Is there anything you enjoy doing in your real life? Start there. Blogging isn’t for everyone. Niche sites aren’t for everyone. There are people making money all kinds of ways.
Alex says
It would be so useful if I was confident and extroverted person, which can teach people smth.
Lisa Irby says
Hey Alex,
It’s interesting you used the word extroverted.
Believe it or not I’m more of an introvert. I have extroverted tendencies (depends on who I’m with. lol) but I’m actually more on the introverted side.
Also introversion and shyness are two different things. I’m more introverted (meaning I don’t need/want a lot of social interaction ALL the time) but I’m not shy. In other words, when I am around people I like or doing what I love (teaching online) I enjoy being around and in front of people.
People assume introversion means you don’t like or aren’t good with people. Not true at all. It just means you don’t need/want interaction all the time. Studies have shown introverts can actually be more creative because we’re always in our heads. I know I certainly am always in my own head. LOL
So I think you can still be introverted yet still confident about what you teach. There are tons of posts online about introverts being successful online. I bet you would be surprised at how many celebrities are also introverts.
I’ve also learned that many online marketers (particularly people I follow on YouTube) are actually more introverted! Isn’t that crazy? You’d think that if they are on video they are extroverted but sometimes people are more comfortable on camera than in a room full of people.
So it’s really about finding what you love to teach and if you really are shy…. you can work on your confidence and presentation skills when you have your idea for what to teach. Don’t give up!
Alex says
Thank you, Lisa
dellnly10ed says
Lisa, I agree with you completely! I recently embraced the term “extroverted introvert” which basically is what you explain, I’m not shy-just don’t like a lot of social interaction. It’s funny that you referred to Youtube because I have been seriously considering starting a channel (explains why I’m here looking for guidance) but was concerned that my introverted tendencies would get in the way. At least with video I can always edit out those awkward moments that I can’t in real life.
BTW: I’m really loving your blog, so much useful information.
Lisa Irby says
Absolutely! I’m telling you… so many people on YouTube are actually introverts and as I said, if you’re not shy then you should do just fine. And even if you are, you can always work through that with practice.
Start by practicing in front of the mirror. Pick a topic and right down your bullet points and begin practicing. The more you do it, the better you get! You can do it!
MsCrookedHalo says
I read somewhere that introverts actually do better making youtube videos because they don’t need the audience feedback whereas that it part of what an extrovert feeds off of.
Lisa Irby says
Interesting analogy!! I can see that.
Elayseah says
Great post! It’s great to see how much you’ve evolved in this business and how much you love what you do.

Heyyyy Lisa! OMG Chica… Yayyy for you! You already know that I am super proud of you for taking action to get that “elephant out of the room”. LOL…
I can definitely attest to the clarity aspect of blogging + online business. It’s seriously amazing that when you can get more clear and get focused with your messaging and brand…how much of a difference it will make.
Hiring a “Bootcamp coach” was a game changer for me…and my brand. Just some food for thought for your readers — I launched my site in January and made a sale on a product in less than two weeks after my launch — and were talking about a NEW site.
How did that happen — because I am laser focused now with who I help and what I help them with.
Old site = 180k visitors a month — Product sales in 2 years of keeping site = a whopping 2
You are well on your way Lisa and I could not be more proud of you. Cant wait to see where your new endeavors take you!
Cheers Chica and thank you sooooo much for the mention 🙂
Kim George says
Oops meant to say of Keeping the Site. Just wanted to reiterate how important clarity and messaging is. 🙂
Lisa Irby says
Thank you Kim! Your story was such an inspiration to me and you are the primary reason I’m on this path so thank you, thank you, thank you! I probably would have been trying to work around the elephant instead of eliminating it had I not met you. LOL
Kim George says
You are very welcome Lisa. Seriously, you have been a huge inspiration to me (and a tonnn of other folks too) for years online. I’m just blessed that my decision to start over has inspired you to re-visit things. Keep rocking it out girlie. 🙂
Brett Romero says
Hi Lisa,
I had this same problem. My website started out focused on business growth content. Then it spread into design and programming (much of my background).
I didn’t want to split the site into three sites. That’s way too much maintenance. But I knew I couldn’t keep all of these topics grouped together. To solve the focus issue without creating separate sites, I created two mini sites instead. They are under the same domain name but are able to share much of the main site’s components. I also made sure branding was differentiated for each mini site but still carried a common theme.
I didn’t come up with this idea by myself. It was with the help of a coach.
Working with a coach is a great move. It let’s you bounce ideas off of someone else with lots of experience and gives you a new perspective in certain areas. Sometimes we can only see what’s in our head and it can be hard to step out of that view. Looking forward to reading more about your coaching journey.
Thanks,
Brett
Lisa Irby says
Exactly Brett! Of course I could segment my email list or create separate sites but that doesn’t feel right to me either. A lot of what I do will depend on what I learn from coaching, but I really do appreciate you sharing what you did. Glad it’s working for you. I honestly never thought of that. I’m gonna check out your site. I’m assuming you mean the one linked from this comment.
I definitely needed a new perspective and I’m a DIYer to a fault. This also reminded me that I don’t have to do or figure everything out myself… which is also a detriment to a business. Whew! What a journey. 🙂
Brett Romero says
Yes – that’s the right site. I’ll be linking to the two mini sites once I revamp the footer.
Right – you don’t need to figure it all out on your own. Some people can probably do it but it will take longer and be a bigger struggle than working with some one that can provide great feedback.
Keeon says
Great post lisa! It’s all about being focused and developing a system to repeat the focus activity. I’m slowing down to speed up. I also agree on having 500 visits making a good income instead of 10,000 and not making as much.
Lisa Irby says
Hey Keeon! Long time no see. Exactly! When I think about how much I’ve made from this site, it could actually be 10x’s more if I had just picked a lane and stayed there. For me, it’s about getting better with conversions and that’s something I’ve never concentrated on. What a ride! Thanks for stopping by.

This is great! I’ve been thinking more and more about this too. My tendency is to want to be a huge authority site but that’s not working well for me! How about you do some coaching for me? 🙂 But seriously can’t wait to hear more about this! As usual, awesome content!

Hey Lorian!
I met someone at a meetup who only got 500 visits to his site per month but he was making a ton of money with affiliate marketing because his audience was VERY focused. So it’s not always about volume of followers. It’s more about conversions. Thanks for reading!
lorian rea says
Well, I get more than that a month but don’t make a ton. PLEASE teach us! 😉
And, how much does coaching cost, approximately?
Lisa Irby says
I sent you an email to the address you used here.

Thanks! Got it!
