I could tell by a few comments on my last post that a few of your were worried.
I think the word “messaging” scared people because it sounds unnatural, and you may have wondered what I meant by all that.
I was vague because I wasn’t 100% sure how I would approach this (a new niche site or use this one), but I’ve made up my mind.
After watching the video below, my new direction is going to make more sense.
But no matter what happens, I will never lose my keep-it-real approach many of you have grown to love. That’s part of my brand and I never take the trust I’ve built for granted.
What’s great about this new journey is I will still use this site, YouTube channel and podcast to share lessons about launching a site today. (No, you’re not getting rid of me that easily!) 😉
And when I said “my content is going to grow up”, I am going to be focusing much more on entrepreneurial topics such as pricing and selling/hosting your own products/courses, etc.
Whew! This is going to be a journey, and parts of it won’t be easy.
But I’m ready.
Bring it on!

Hey Lisa,
I first found your blog back in 2008. I must say I learned a lot from it. I have been a silent visitor though. It feels great your trying new niches now. All the best to your new task.

Hi there Lisa!
Thanks for the video and your enlightening thoughts regarding your new venture…..a perfect
segue into my next question 🙂 :)………
Several months ago, I tried contacting you via your contact page, but presumably due to your schedule, I never heard back from you…it’s quite all right, I understand 🙂
However, being in the same boat as you are now, I’d LOVE to have a paid one-on one consultation with you if I could Lisa (my initial inquiry).
Is there any way that’s possible and if so, how can I contact you where I’m assured you’ll reply with specific details? (fee, length of session, how to book, etc)
Please respond Lisa if you could, as I’d truly love for you to help me set the restart button as you’re currently doing. I’m not a newbie, so you won’t have to do any IM 101 with me! 🙂
Thanks heaps for your kind consideration.
Best wishes,
Mark
Lisa Irby says
Sorry about that, Mark. I’ll send you an email from the address listed here.

Good move lisa.
I remember Lisa because the blog 2createawebsite.com was my first reference for website designing and blogging. I learned about wordpress and many more technical things.
Presently i am a freelancer in digital marketing, web designing with my own brand http://vineethmungath.com.
your website changed a lot and you also entered into more niches.
Thanks for writing this wonderful blog.

And thank YOU for your support.

Hi Lisa,
I’m more than thankful I came across your site yesterday! I’m very new to this online business world (which at times I can feel intimidated) and there’s so much to learn, but your approach is awesome for me. I started a few blog post on blogspot in July 2015 due to an assignment that was given to me and had no CLUE that I would love posting. So as I continue to structure my business I wasn’t really clear about the difference between creating a website vs. creating a blog so I decided to google and your information populated. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Lisa Irby says
Isn’t it great when you fall into something and realize you enjoy it? That’s exactly what happened to me. I came out here just to make a few bucks in college and had no idea it would ever turn into a full time business. I love to teach and that’s what ultimately drives me so as long as you have something you love, I say BUILD ON THAT.
Just remember that when it comes to selling and making money, it’s about picking out an audience you can help and focusing on that audience. Then sell products that solve their products.
Even though this site has made more money, my napturallycurly.com site is much more successful in terms of CONVERSIONS (which is what matters most) because the content and audience is very focused and specific.
I wish you the best!

Seeing that this blog is already successful, I can say that you can do it again. But this time, maybe it’s much easier because you already know what you’re doing. Keep it up! 🙂

Thank you Terinah!

Superb post Lisa,

Adsense I believe very less people are using it now… most trendy would be online courses, online courses actually really helpful not even have to actually bring a book to read, it’s all online, very convenient for education.
Lisa Irby says
Yes, yes yes. I’ve found that many people who are overly interested in AdSense aren’t typically interested in building more stable, long-term income. And that’s fine. That’s just not the audience I’m after anymore now that Internet Marketing has evolved and my interests have changed.

You can put a video of you watching the paint dry and I’ll still watch it.

Lisa,
Not many sisters are like you and have the sheer long term dedication to running an online business. Keep doing what you’re doing. But you do need more videos! (smile)
Lisa Irby says
LOL thanks. That’s why you have to love what you do. Otherwise it becomes a job. I hear that “do more videos” a lot! I actually about 3 more in queue so you’ll be seeing more of me soon.
DNN says
Wonderful. We look forward to seeing more videos Lisa! 🙂

Thanks so much for the explanation! And, I’m very pleased you’re leaving this site as is. I, like you, am into a variety of things and, if I had a similar site, would offer quite a few subject options! That’s just me and that’s you!! Wishing you the best with the ‘niche site’ and appreciate all that you’ve shared with us in the past. Good stuff!!
I’m excited for you!!
Lisa Irby says
Thanks much, Robin. Have a great week!
Edos Ubebe says
Hiya Lisa,
To me this shows the difference between a gambler and a rich man (metaphorically speaking) because most gamblers who won thousands/millions of dollars become broke in a short while but if a truly rich man lost all of his money, chances are that he will get his lost money back because he understand the process (metaphorically speaking).
Not all persons can be bold enough to start a successful thing over again but I know you understand the process and your new niche site will be a huge success, I know that, you know that and I’m looking forward to it. 🙂
Thanks for teaching, coaching and inspiring me.
Wishing you all the very best Lisa.
Lisa Irby says
LOL, great analogy Edos. Thank you.

Hi Lisa,
I’ve been following you for a couple of years now and I’ve always been impressed how “real” you are.
You understand that the road to success and happiness is not a straight one – and you constantly have to make course adjustments along the way.
If I use WordPress to build a website, can you give me a few suggestions on how to best turn it into a membership site? Are there a list of membership site “plug-ins” I can look over.
Thanks you young lady. I love your honesty, brains, and enthusiasm – and you are a real motivator to me!

Cynthia Dixon says
Lisa,
What I love about you is that you’re not afraid to switch things up and adapt to what’s working, which is so important. One of the reasons I no longer blog on my website is because I too was all over the place and just couldn’t find that “one thing” to focus on. I always knew my topic was too broad and could never find a way to narrow it down.
When that’s the case, you lack focus and direction. I feel honored to know that I’m doing something that you’re yourself doing. That tells me that Im paying attention to what’s going on and how the online business models have changed.
It’s amazing how different things are. I can remember all those Adsense sites and the cheap Azon affiliate niche sites that were around not so long ago. But you’re right. Developing a brand is essential to being successful online and it’s the direction we all must go in, if we’re seriously going to last online.
Thank you for always being honest! I greatly appreciate that about you. I wish you the best of success in all your endeavors and I look forward to what you’re doing to do next!
Lisa Irby says
Cynthia I was the same way! As I said in the video, I’ve wanted to correct this for a long time but couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do until I started teaching on Udemy.
Someone on YouTube told me to just lump the new content into this site/channel and how people would kill to have 80,000 subscribers. Who cares how many subscribers you have when they’re not engaged and/or most/many won’t be interested in the new content?
People online need to stop obsessing about volume of followers and realize it’s about conversions and targeted followers. Sure, I would probably convert a small percentage of my followers here on this site/channel, but why not build up a niche site and channel where everyone will want the same things to help with conversions.
I may never get close to 80K subscribers on the new niche, but I can tell you this, they will be more targeted.
I wish you the best on your journey as well. Thanks for your long-time support!

PREACH! PREACH + PREACH Hunty! Its not about the numbers at all! it is about how on TARGET your message + site is for the folks that you want to get your brand in front of 🙂

Lisa Irby says
Lol!! You crack me up Kim!!
Kimberly George says
I am like seriously *tootsie rolling* as one of my friends says all of the time! Lisa, chica I am beyond excited for your new business ventures and I know that you are seriously going to knock things out of the park with your new and more laser focused site.
I was scared to niche down and get focused too — but I am here to tell you and your readers that it IS the Best way to go. I think when folks hear the word Niche…they get a little scared in thinking that you are going to get so laser focused on a topic that perhaps you will not have as much to share as you do here on 2Create.
I dont think that is the case at all. In fact, I would personally rather be known for doing ONE thing very well, than becoming a “Jack of Trades + Master of none”.
Wishing you alllll of the best and again, Thank YOU for all that you do for folks in the blogosphere. Cheers chica 🙂
Lisa Irby says
EXACTLY!!!! And when you are personally involved in the niche and constantly learning, there should always be new things to share.
I think the only time you run out is if you choose something you aren’t really passionate about and then the content well can run dry. But since this is an area I’m actively learning about right now (video production, hosting courses, creating promo videos, and so much more) I can’t see myself running out of content.
Thank you so much, Kim!!

Hello Lisa! Wow… awesome… moving forward is always a good thing! I am looking forward to learning more about your transition into e-learning and what golden nuggets you have to share with us.
There are many so called “teachers” out here in cyberland, that do not know how teach. They are ill-prepared and ineffective. I think what sets you apart from all the others and makes you stand out is your ability to teach. Not everybody is cut out to be a teacher. With you, there is no pretending and your personal easy going style makes what you teach easy to understand and learn. I appreciate all the work you do for us “students” and wish you success with your new venture.
Cheers,
Nancy
Lisa Irby says
Hey Nancy! Thank you so much. Yes I do love to teach and I’m glad that shows through with my presentation and content.

Good luck with your new (or more “grown up”) niche venture, Lisa. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the challenging parts of it just as much as the easier parts – you’re a go-getter! So, go get ’em!
