2 Create a Website Blog

I Want to Review Your Site or Blog

Filed Under: Reviews/Case Studies 35 Comments

How would you like to have your site featured on the 2 Create a Website blog?

Now that I have Camtasia Studio, which is software that allows you to record your screen actions, I’ve decided to start doing website and blog reviews that I will post here on the 2 Create a Website blog from time to time.

So, if you have a website or blog that you would like reviewed here, please follow the instructions below…

1) Send me a message from this blog

2) Put “Site Review” as the subject

3) In the message include your first name, website or blog address, and how long your site has been live.

Feel free to include any other information you wouldn’t mind sharing (i.e. traffic stats, how much you earn per month, etc.)  The more you can share, the greater the chance I will feature you.

What Kinds of Things Will I Review?

Understand that if you submit your site for review and it is chosen, I will review both the positive and negatives about your site in regards to the design, content, etc.  I may also make suggestions for ways to monetize your site.

So if you don’t want to hear anything negative or suggested areas of improvements then please do not submit your site for review.  Any criticism I provide will be constructive.

Obviously I will not be able to publicly (or personally) review most submitted sites.  I will be choosing the ones I feel will create the best learning experience for my readers and will be taking a variety of things into consideration when making my selections.

I also have not decided how often I will do these reviews.  Since this is my first time trying this, I will see how it goes and play it by ear.

Be sure you follow the instructions above for submitting your site to me.  Please do not suggest your site using the comment form below.

If your site is selected, I will email you and let you know what day you can expect the review to appear on my blog.

My programmer is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP.
I have always disliked the idea because of the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less.
I’ve been using WordPress on numerous websites for about a year and am
concerned about switching to another platform. I have heard good things about
blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated!

I started a website around 2 months ago. Used a free web site builder from my web host but later installed a wiki to my website. Presently, my heart has grown cold to my earlier attempts of writing content and I have turned my attention to the wiki. Can you review my entire website with the wiki included? Well, as of errors, I think my writing is not that good plus my wiki may look amateurish.

Good Article. Please feel free to review our not-for-profit website. We work hard to assist fund raising for animal charities.

I’m sure you get this a hundred times a day, but YOU ROCK! Your transparency and honesty are refreshing in this day and age of scamming on the net. My site is finally doing well after a year and my referal base has grown tremendously. I stuck with it and even though Im making about $150 every three months, its $150 I never would have had and Im having a blast. I did it for the money but its turned into a true passion. Thank you for everything you do for us idiots! Keep it up you truly are appreciated here in Hawaii!

    Hi Cathy

I see your Recent Posts now. I didn’t see this when I reviewed it yesterday. As far as editing your header, you need to open your header.php file in wordpress and there are a few lines that refer to your header and description. You can remove that code and it will remove the white link and description. You don’t really need it since you have it as part of your header graphic.

No plugin is needed. You just need to edit your header.php file to manually add the text. It’s hard to explain how to do this in the comments area but I think if you start playing around with your CSS (make a backup) of your header.php file you will see that you can add text to your header.

Thanks so much for the blog review Lisa! I do plan to implememnt alot of what you said (if I can figure out how to do some of it, Im not techie at all).

I do need clarification on a few things. You said you can only see my most recent post? I’m seeing the last 10 when I look.

Im up to 37 subscribers now and about 200 visitors a day (yes I did start it Jan 09, or actually I think my 1st post was on Dec 29th)& I do find alot of it comes from those directories on my site so I’m hesitant to take those off. Maybe I’ll just put them in a less prominent place?

I have been working on a free report (not an ebook, not quite at that point yet) that I was going to offer as an incentive to join my mailing list. Is that a good idea or should I just give it away with no strings attached?

I struggled with my tag line and I agree it’s probably not descriptive enough. But I have no idea how to tell what this blog is about just in one short line. I’m wondering if there’s a way to have a small paragraph under the header but above the posts that explains it. Is there a plugin for that?

I also am the one that put that white text in for the tag line on the header and have no idea how I did or how to fix it (did I mention Im not very techie?)

Now there’s no proof that a sub-domain get’s any less traffic then a top-level domain. But if you are directly trying to sell something, people will start going “hmmm”(not to mention some are too hard to memorize)?

Amr, I would honestly prefer blogs hosted on a true domain name. because it goes along with the advice I give. But if I see a blog that I feel will make a good example then I won’t discriminate. But I bet you can guess what my FIRST recommendation will be. 🙂
