I Just Wanna Thank Ya!

Filed Under: General Web 22 Comments

Thank YouForgive me, but I had to interrupt this regularly scheduled broadcast to say two simple words…

Thank you.

I think about the money I’ve made over the years and the material “stuff” I’ve been able to buy.

That’s all fine and dandy, but it’s really nothing compared to the enjoyment of helping others and getting e-mails from you about your growth and progress.

For some reason, I’ve received a lot more “good news” e-mails in the past week.   Normally my inbox is flooded with problems and questions after more questions.   Of course, those were there too, but there were a lot more “thank you’s” and good progress reports.

Those kinds of e-mails make my day!

They keep me going and remind me why I’m out here.  Sure, my initial motivation was to make money online, but I quickly learned that the real fulfillment comes in seeing how my work impacts you.

These e-mails are also a nice break from the norm.  Answering e-mail is often a real chore for me.   Some days I dread it.  Most e-mails are requests for extensive one-on-one help (which I just can’t do much anymore).

Just yesterday someone asked me to e-mail Google to get their banned AdSense account reactivated. (Are you serious?)

Then there’s the e-mails from people who flat out ask for money or want me to build their site for them (with no mention of payment).

So yes, e-mail is probably my least favorite task of the day.  Nevertheless, I’ve learned that I just can’t answer them all. I do what I can and quickly delete the ones from people looking to get something for nothing.

However, that’s such a small piece of this experience, and I think that’s what makes the positive e-mails even more special.   They also remind me of something I’m always preaching about…

There has to be something bigger than money to motivate you out here.  Something else has to keep you going.  For me, it’s teaching, seeing people learn, and discovering my site’s impact.  I don’t know what that is for you, but it’s something you have to find.

I’ve said it 100 times, but I’ll say it again.  The money is always a byproduct of what you enjoy.  So find a way to make this fun, or it will become another 9 to 5.

OK, I’ll stop with the preaching and mushy stuff for now. 😉 I just wanted to say thank you.  You are the reason I continue to do what I do and I appreciate all your support.

Just found your blog and loved the message in this post. And I have to agree with you – money is one side of the story, but life is a journey not a dress rehearsal and it’s the journey that’s more important than the end result.

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks a lot for all the adsense tips that you have mentioned in your youtube videos and your website. You seem to genuinely help people to better their adsense journey. I will try my best to implement all of them in my website.

Thank you for your honesty, and your way of not “sugarcoating” what you say. Your speech, manner of speaking, the cadence, appearance, knowledge etc. I thank you and I really want to thank your PARENTS!!!! They did very well and should be quite proud of you.

I’m one of the lucky ones. I’ve been writing and creating content for years. It’s been like dancing in the dark. But you have given me curiosity to see what would happen if I could actually get an audience. Mainstream publishing is such a crap shoot and largely non-paying. So why can’t I get my own audience and help sell stuff, too? I don’t know where this is going, but I love creating content. The nitty gritty web stuff is confusing, but it isn’t so bad. And it’s so satisfying to finally figure something out. Thanks, Lisa.

    Hi Lisa:
I am glad that people take the time to tell you what they have learned from your site. It does make the effort worth while when, at times, you may find yourself inundated with complaints, or why can’t you help me? I use your site(s) as an encyclopedia that works with the SiteBuildIt site that I administer. By the way, I bought SBI, using your advice and I am quite happy I did! I think one reason that you are successful is that you have a very down-to-earth, conversational tone. People feel comfortable approaching you to ask for your advice. Keep up the good work! We all appreciate you!

Like others, I have to say THANK YOU!!, to you also. Your site was a tremendous help when I was creating my site years ago. Without your HTML tutorial I would have been lost. You have a great way of explaining things and reducing not only the confusion, but the apprehension of getting started on it.

    Hi Lisa!

You have always been an inspiration for me and have given me great advice, not directly but just through watching your videos and reading your blog. I want to thank YOU for all you’ve done to help me out. My Alexa rank has skyrocketed and is still climbing on a daily basis due to the advice I’ve learned from you.

My page rank has also climbed to a PR4 and it’s due to the fact that I’ve not place too much emphasis on PR but on content.

I’ve placed emphasis on networking and reaching out to others and as a result, because my attention hasn’t been solely on my page rank, it has crept up on me. Again thank YOU and have a great day!

    Hello Lisa,

Thank YOU for providing us with such a great website and content. I not always leave a comment but I visit your blog regularly. I admire how open and endearing you are. And you are SO right, I learned that there has to be something bigger than money to motivate us to keep going and money will come as a result.

Keep up the GREAT job!! 🙂

Hi Lisa, I was blown away by this post. I can really relate to what you wrote, especially about answering e-mails is often a real chore to you but the “Thank You’s” make it all worth it. I guess this is one of the big “Somethings” that can help keep us going. I think it’s time for me to write a similar “thank you” post to my readers and subscribers, and I’ll definitely do this one of these days.

Just another one of those many things that i have learned from you.

    Thanks a million Lisa!

    Hi Lisa,
I’m sorry but I must reply to your “thank you” with a big heart-felt THANK YOU!!!
I’m so glad I found your site one day last year. Who knows what might have become of me – I’m pretty sure I would’ve quit by now. I’ve learned so much from you and I appreciate the work you put into this site.
I don’t know if you realize how much of an impact you’ve made. It’s a shame that words really don’t do my feelings any justice.

Like Grady said, Thank You Lisa!

Lisa, if it were not for you I would not be in the position I am in. I personally think I have a relatively successful blog, just started my own online business and I own my own directory. I would not have a clue what those things were if I never had watched your videos on adsense which took me to 2createawebsite.com

You are one of the three special people that has influenced my blogging and I cannot put it in words how much I appreciate your help.

Lisa, thank YOU! You have made the whole process of learning to build a website so much fun, and I’ve been so impressed with the way your site has evolved completely in the last year. The blog, the layout, the logo, the twitter, the videos. It’s all working together to keep 2createawebsite on top. You’re great!
