Another WordPress Theme Giveaway (Up to $100 Value)

This contest is over.  Congratulations, Tara of http://www.aspectacledowl.com.  Random.org chose your comment!  I will be emailing you for your details.

If you’ve been anxiously awaiting my next theme giveaway…

Wait no more!

Once again, you will have the chance to win the StudioPress Genesis Framework AND the child theme of your choice! (Up to a $100 value, depending on the child theme you choose.)

If you already own the Genesis Framework then you can just select another child theme.

What’s So Great About The Genesis Framework?

1. Many of the themes include several dashboard options to make customization easy.

For example, the Prose Theme (what I use) is great for non-coders because it has loads of design/style options.  You can adjust the font colors, font sizes and more right from the WordPress admin area.

2. Clean code! (Great for SEO, page loading and more.)

3. Crisp, clean layouts

4. Several of the themes are mobile responsive (which means the theme adjusts for easy reading on smaller devices like phones and tablets).

Soon all the StudioPress themes will be mobile responsive. (You can use the filter on this page to see which ones are already mobile friendly.)

5. They have amazing support!  I always get a response within 3-5 hours.

How to Enter

Like previous contests, I’m making this easy. 🙂

All you have to do is answer ONE of the following questions for a chance to win. Please respond ONCE (multiple responses will void your entire entry.)

Choose One Question to Answer:

1) Name one traffic-building tip or technique that has been the most useful for your website.

Or…

2) Name one traffic-building tip or technique that has been a complete waste of time for your website.

I will contact the winner by email and announce them here on this page after the contest ends on Friday, May 24, 2013 @ 11:59CST.

Rules and Terms

  • No purchase necessary to enter or win (I will purchase the theme for the winner.)
  • Only one entry per person (additional entries will be deleted and I will be checking emails and IP’s)
  • One winner will be chosen using Random.org
  • Contest ends Friday, May 24th at 11:59pm CST
  • Entries that don’t follow the rules and requirements will be voided
  • Please don’t forget to enter your CORRECT email address in the form (won’t be shown to anyone but me). If you win, that’s how I will contact you.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my
own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get set up?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% positive. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

    1) Name one traffic-building tip or technique that has been the most useful for your website.

I would have to say that utilizing social media, scheduling my posts to link with my Facebook and Twitter pages has been the most effective, and successful means of driving traffic to my website.

One very good source of good rewarding traffic I have been using for a while now is Forums.

I am a member of some great online communities and forums where users interact a lot with each other and ask and answer questions. What I normally do is find the questions that I have created the answer on my blog and then post a snippet of that answer a little link so that those interested in the answer can always get it. Sometimes, if the answer is not available on my blog, I create it to answer that question.

This has proved an invaluable traffic source.

    Hi Lisa,

Now that’s an offer I could not refuse.

The traffic building technique that was a complete waste of time for me was buying a an offer on the Warrior forum that included a solo ad blast and various other forms of advertising.

One huge traffic-builder for a site I built previously was social media, largely through Facebook. By adding incentives on Facebook for people to click through to my site, I have increased traffic very effectively. 🙂

My most useful tip is utilizing Pinterest. I get more traffic from there than all other social media combined. The key is great pictures & paying attention to the holidays that are coming up (think in advance for the Valentine crafts, Christmas crafts, etc) and plan accordingly 🙂

    Hi Lisa
Google is by far my best traffic source. Because of that I would say that installing the “All in one SEO Pack” plugin on my WordPress blog is one of the best thing I have implemented.

Most useful thing for me has been the discovery of Twitter. For my professional learning this has also been invaluable as well as pointing people in the direction of my site.

    2) Tags. Nothing has been a bigger frustration and waste of my time than dealing with tags. Not just on the site but on other people’s sites and networks too. There are too many combinations of words and phrases to remember for each small and big topic you add to your site. When I add a tag it often ends up being a tag I already have, in other words. So I would take the time, usually an entire day, to edit my tags. After a few years I began to think the process was not worth keeping tags. I stopped using them about two years ago and I don’t regret it. One frustration I did not need. Instead I focus on meta tags for the site overall, not individual posts.

Amazingly, Rebelmouse has been great for me. I say amazingly because I barely remember connecting to it but then all of a sudden I started seeing it in my referral stats.. Over and over again.

For me, Pinterest has been the biggest waste of time when I compared my results to what I was led to expect from all the hype.. But then, I think Pinterest can be very niche’y

One source that has been really great for me has been Pinterest. Joining groups and posting all my pinterest pictures on twitter (using hashtags) has been really effective. With using hashtags, more people that don’t follow me get to see my basketball pictures and they get to know my blog via pinterest as well.

The most useful way for me to get traffic so far has been the spoonback feature on http://www.urbanspoon.com. I have other content on my website as well but lately the food reviews have been central in my blogging. Over 80% of my traffic comes from there and I am already in the top ten bloggers in my city!

I just put one website up in the answer box.

I would say that Facebook is the social media site that gives me the most feedback but I have a lot more people on Facebook so it makes sense. I need more folks on Google+, Twitter , LinkedIn, and to get going with more social sites.

For a technique that is a complete waste of time (and money in this case) are backlink gigs on fiverr.com thhat create 1,000 or whatever number of spam backlinks that dont relate to your site.

Actually I will expand it to any SEO related gig. You pay 5$, and get what ya paid for.
