I maintain my wife’s blog and wonder if it would be a good idea to promote Clickbank products on it. I did subscribe to your newsletter. I enjoy your YouTube videos. I would like to try this and have some fun with it. David
Lisa Irby says
Hi David
Do a search on their marketplace and see if you can find something that’s relevant. Just be careful. A lot of CB products are hype and people know affiliates aggressively promote the products for the high commission. Always review it before recommending.
rino says
Hi Lisa
I was wondering if you have a beginners tutorial or better still training on email marketing
Lisa Irby says
Hi Rino,
Welcome! I think you should read this https://blog.2createawebsite.com/2014/09/07/email-marketing-strategy/
rino says
Hi Lisa
I landed on your website while looking for some kind of tutorial on how to start email marketing. Although I kind of know how it works I need someone to ” hold my hand” and get me going. I believe that the money is in the list. I have tried affiliate marketing and I didn’t do too well at all, thought you might be able to help.
Charles says
Hello Lisa, and thanks so much for wanting to take the time to find out about me and my needs… another brilliant idea of yours!
1) Do you have a website yet? I already got hosting, now I’m trying to learn the website design and build process. WordPress is such a standard but the learning curve is a bit much. My host includes Weebly drag and drop builder, but not sure how pro it looks for a biz site.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter? I subscribed primarily because of the generous and down-to-earth lady behind all of the fantastic information that is available on your sites! Seriously, Lisa, it really helps me to be comfortable with learning and sometimes making mistakes (what newbie doesn’t) when you give such a patient and helpful attitude. Have you heard the Simon Sinek phrase, that people want to join up with you or buy from you, not because of what you do, but WHY you do it? You come across as firstly wanting to be really helpful, not just as being really knowledgeable and able to sell me whatever I need.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific. Right now, I am working to learn about Affiliate Marketing. I’ve joined Affilomart and ClickBank and now I just need to learn how to build a good website with quality content to get some sales from it.
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any) Web design and quality content for it are what I’m sort of stuck at for the moment. I’m sure down the road I’ll need lots of other things to learn! But, for right now, its staring at that blank page that needs my input to make it something that doesn’t look like I learned it yesterday is my big challenge.
Thanks again Lisa,
Charles

Thanks Lisa for inquiring about my interest in 2create a website, yes I am still interest in building a website. But I wanted to read up on everything I needed to know before I respond. It’s taking quite a while for it all to sink in but I’m getting there. I will respond as soon as I can. Thanks for accepting me into the program. These are some answers to some questions you had asked. Do you have a website yet? No I do not. Why did I subscribe to the news letter? Because my intentions are to earn income on the website. What would I like to learn more about? I need to learn the whole system, this is new to me. And lastly, What is your biggest challenge? Learning the system. Thanks again.

Hi Lisa, I’ve just finished my first eBook and really appreciate the information I got from your youtube videos. My eBooks will be instructional about my work and I’ll be adding several pictures. Since they’re my work and my own techniques, do you think I should watermark my photos? Thanks so much and I’ll be following! Lynda
Lisa Irby says
Hi Lynda,
You most certainly should. Even though you can protect your ebook (I’m assuming it’s a PDF?) from being copied so they can’t take images anyway, it never hurts to watermark.

Lisa, I happened to find you when youtube popped one of your videos on learning canva!! I can see that I will learn a lot from you and I have a lot to learn!!!!
I really do not have a web site yet unless the free blog on wordpress counts. Right now, I am feeling pretty overwhelmed with all I have to learn. It would be easy to get discouraged and give up – another challenge!
I subscribed to your blog and bookmarked your website because you are good communicator, you seem to use a lot of lists which I find very helpful. You explain things well and seem to be giving very practical advice!
It would be awesome to make money from a blog/web site but that is not my primary goal. I am most interested in building readership and sharing my thoughts on living life in accordance with the Bible – yes, I am a “niche” person for sure!
My biggest challenge is learning all I need to learn. I look forward to taking these baby steps and am trying to avoid any missteps! I think it is wonderful that you are willing to share what you have learned in this free forum.
Please keep the easy simple steps coming, for you it is probably repetitive. I also need to read through all you have already posted and blogged to learn more. Looking forward to learning from you!!

3. My site is hosted at Weebly but the themes lack precision (according to me!) and would love to have a no nonsense WYSIWIG pixel-addressably precise template on which I can truly place elements (such as maps,ads,forms,etc.). I need help on Adsense.
4. My biggest challenge? Writers’ block. I would love to set a target of 20 pages a week(!)

I’m a brand new at this. I have a website that specializes in concealed carry handbags abd self defense products fir women. I can’t seem To get my sites listed on the main engines. I use go daddy I have set my keywords but still do not show up on search engine’s. I’m getting frustrated
Lisa Irby says
Hi Debbie
SEO is much more complex than just adding keywords these days. Back in 2002 that would have been enough but today time’s have changed. Look at the sites that are ranking ahead of you. More than likely they are probably bigger brands. They have an immediate advantage.
To get your site ranked you need to read up on Authorship and understand the importance of getting backlinks from other related sites. Watch this video for an overview of SEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B59PebgD_d0
Here’s where you can read up on Authorship http://www.2createawebsite.com/traffic/google-authorship-tutorial.html

Lisa, I was searching for information about how to use Google AdSense, I found your page more clear to follow among others. I don’t have a website yet, but I’m thinking about it. For me the biggest challenge is to find a topic or topics upon which to build the website. The niche needs to have a good site for AdSense.
I find your web and blog very clear to understand and informative and full of resources. I will continue reading more in it. I would like to know if there is any web hosting in particular that is better than others for this kind of site. I have used Go Daddy and Ipage in the past. Now I have a registered domain mostly for personal use, but no site yet. I will have to buy another domain name and hosting once I decide what my site will be about. I don’t have a clue yet. I don’t have expertise in anything in particular.
Thank you for the good content that you provide. I don’t use Twitter but I have liked you in FB.
Juan.

Hi Lisa, I am so glad I found your youtube channel and then your site! I have been floundering after having another company set up my blog. I am really focusing on it this summer (I’m in education) and one of my next steps is trying to figure out how to connect the blog with social media. I will do a search on your site for that. I’m focusing on a niche group – women “of a certain age” who are going “age-free” and want to find some inspiration and encouragement for living passionately. I will upload my content once I finish figuring out a couple of things. Thanks for the inspiration!

1) Do you have a website yet?
That’s one of my questions. I am co-owner of an Internet Marketing Company, Kiss Marketing, Inc, but I am not the geek. We have several websites, mainly local business directories. My biz partner spends her time with her SEO clients and isn’t motivated lately to work on our other sites. I have wanted to get involved with information marketing for some time. My first question is would it be beneficial to add pages to our existing directory, or start a total new website on my own.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
I have been looking for information regarding affiliate marketing, selling products, etc., and your information is the most inclusive, interesting and easy to understand.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
Everything…..I am pretty much a newbie at doing the creating. I’m sure I will have more specific questions as time goes on…
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
Refer to question one.
Lisa Irby says
Hi Patty,
Welcome! What would be the advantage of starting a new site? Are the existing sites not getting traffic? I guess I need to know more about what would make you consider scrapping what you have — other than the fact your partner is not working on the sites. Do you not have access to them?
Jeffrey Schultz says
I have watched many of your video’s and have learned a lot.
1. I have two websites for my two businesses. http://www.schultz-cpa.com is for my accounting practice and http://www.expresspayrollsolutions.com is a payroll company that runs out of the same location. I also am trying to gain momentum for my #taxesarehard blog. currently it runs as part of the Schultz website, but I also own the domain name http://www.taxesarehard.com. If I can get momentum with the blog I was hoping to flip it to its own site.
2. I subscribed after watching some of your videos. My main business line website is SEO’ed but I still lack any significant traffic. I do receive hits from local individuals and businesses but not much outside of that. I also write articles on the site that no one knows exist. It is my goal this summer to figure out how to draw more traffic to they site. That is why I subscribed.
3. I get ranked well when I am searched locally. More specifically I rank well in my city. I have to figure out how to organically rank in other cities.
4. Ranking in other cities adjacent to mine.

Hi Lisa,
I’m a reader of your websites (2createawebsite) and now I have found your ebook on niche websites success dot com. I also saw your adsense book on Amazon and watched a couple of your you tube videos… WoW! your are busy – that’s awesome!
For me I’ve been wanting to make money online for a long time. I’ve always been fascinated by it and in fact I sold a little on eBay in the past, but that is about all I’ve done. So I’m back now online and have been grinding away for the past 3 months to learn as much as I can about what I wanted to do online and my strategy – keyword research (reader of niche pursuits), seo ranking in the top 10 of google, content, and some stratigies for link building (the right way) – before I made my first website. What I would like to do is Affiliate Marketing, as well as other monetizing strategies – like adsense and more on my Affiliate Site.
Sorry about the babbling…
My first question to ask you is, does your eBook cover the steps of how to put up a website, and if so would it be easy enough for a beginner like me to do so?
2nd question – In one of your you tube videos you mentioned you do some of your keyword research using Spencer Haws’ Long Tail Pro. I watched the videos on how to use them and how he used them in one of his case studies with a student Perrin. I’m actually ready to get LTP/Platnum, but recently came across another keyword research tool called Market Samurai. Have you ever used M/Samurai and if so did you like it – how does it compare to LTPro?
Thank you Lisa,
I appreciate your help!
Have a great day!
Michelle
Lisa Irby says
Hi Michelle,
The book doesn’t go into the steps of setting up the web site as much. BUT if you host your site at websitepalace.com, you will get my 27 minute video for free that does go into very specific step by step details on how to setup your site with WordPress. It’s on the order confirmation page.
Market Samurai is not as good as LTP. I actually used to use it but now only use LTP. Market Samurai is not as good as it used to be.

Tried the affiliate stuff first out but with no readers it is pretty hard to sell em anything.
My biggest problem is this wall around me. No matter how loud I scream only a couple of people hear me. That is what you call traffic. FB have cut my visibility hugely. Twitter gets all uppity if I try to reach out to too many people. I can’t seem to reach the general public.

Hi Lisa,
I am a senior citizen looking for something interesting I can carry on into my twilight years. However, I am so busy in other projects at the moment that my online presence has not been fully explored.
I ran a blog at http://www.oldblogga.com aimed at senior citizens, but I had difficulties with WordPress so it has temporarily been closed. At the time it had good traffic even if most of it was from others seeking free advertising for their products (i.e. irrelevant mostly). l came across you on YouTube and was immediately impressed with your presentation skills. Also the sheer quantity and quality of your total online presence meant you are a lady I simply cannot ignore. I have followed one or two “gurus” before, but no one I have come across has done so much in such a professional way. I hope you will not mind if I copy you to an extent (on the basis that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery). Rather than plagiarize you I intend to give credit where it is due.
I am hoping you can point me in many right directions. For a start I now have a plan, whereas before everything was haphazard, just hoping for the best. The first thing I will do is resurrect my blog and think about the quality of my site and my posts before I even think about SEO, monetization and the like. I now know getting this right is a marathon, not a sprint.
I’ll be following you with interest from now on.
I thank you and wish you all the best.

Hi Lisa …
This is Kevin, and it’s great to be here … and thanks for having me aboard!
I’ve struggled in quite a few areas building my site[s] over the last six years and counting. I also realize Google made a lot of changes over the last few years in regard to how a Web site is ranked, and I’ve followed some of your videos and posts you’ve shared in response to the changes Google has made.
One of my biggest challenges have been deciding on a market or niche of interest as appose to something I have a lot of experience and knowledge/passion about which is Internet Marketing. Keep in mind, I been involved with “Internet Marketing” six years and counting, and I’ve attempted to stay in the “Lifestyle” market … you know, the “How To” Make Money or Start A Business” thing over those course of years.
Another big challenge of mine is identifying with the appropriate “Key Search Terms” and where to ,actually, implement them into the different documents/Web pages of my site. I’m also familiar with meta tags [thanks to your informational and educational Web site “2CreateAWebsite.com”], and by the way … I frequent your site still today].
The third, and final challenge I’m confident most new comers and amateur’s such as myself face is the #1 BIGGIE everybody faces initially in this business, and that is … TRAFFIC! I’ve read your book titled … “Untold AdSense Facts” and I found a great deal of value from the read, and I am working on finishing the building process of my new site with your advise in mind.
I hope this is not too much input, but you did say … “Speak Your Mind!”
Thanks! Lisa … and hope to hear from you soon.

Hello Lisa,
Thanks for this new way to communicate with you and for being kind with us.
Here, you have my answers:
1. Do you have a website yet? Yes, I do but after I heard your podcast, I will do changes in my website.
2. Why did you subscribe to my newsletter? I am looking for a mentor and because I want that you help me to organize my ideas and all the information that you already gave us and also other information that I found in other places. Your bubble forum helps me but it is not enough. Perhaps in the forum, will it be possible to have main topics that show us step by step how to make business online?
3. What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
• I want to learn how to have traffic (step by step) you already gave some tips so I want to organize those.
• I want to see some website examples in order to improve my website. If it is possible to take my website (as a model) or another website from people who are in the forum that you already know that is not spam.
• I want to learn more about teaching websites.
• I want to learn how to do a good blog, a good video, to find my niche (audience), to make my own ebook, webmaster tools, how to find good forum (for instance, my autocad teaching),
• And so on
4. What is your biggest challenge right now?
• To start having a good foundation of my business online.
• After one year of having my website (no traffic), hearing your podcast and listened advices from your babble forum, I found that I should divide my current website in 2, in others words, I want to create two websites. One of the website, I will only teach Autocad for beginners and on the other website I will encourage people to continue learning Spanish. I will also change the structure of my website and I want to buy Genesis but first, I should understand what and how I will do it. Last year, I created my website without understand very well what I was doing.
• I can not buy products if my website is not ready to do some sells.

I don’t have any website yet, but at the moment working on my first one. I am still looking for inspiration and advices, that’s how i found you. I know you big fan of WordPress, but what you honestly think about Wix or Weebly website builders? Of course we talk about pay version not free one.
Honestly what really catch me on your site, when i came here first time two days ago was your content and writing skills. I think that will be my biggest struggle as i don’t have many experience yet with industry im doing, but i will keep going and make it happen.
Thanks for your support and have great day Lisa.
Lisa Irby says
Hi Ondrej,
I don’t know anything about the paid versions of Weebly and Wix. I’ve always used regular hosting and I would highly recommend WordPress since it’s becoming more of an industry standard and there are a lot of compatible plugins to help you add on to your site. That’s why I offer that free video for people who use my site websitepalace.com to host. WordPress is the only building platform I recommend now.

Hi Lisa!
I subscribed because you sold yourself very well. Your videos are very helpful. I just stumbled onto your YouTube vids about two days ago, so I haven’t watched all of them yet but I plan to see more of them. I have a website and I’ve been utilizing social media to get traffic to my site and to build my brand. So far traffic hasn’t been the greatest but I understand that this is new for me. I started a clothing (t-shirt and accessories) line on March 3rd. What I did was create a website that leads the customer to my online shop. I utilize a site called Spreadshirt they do all the work, printing, shipping and invoices. I just create the designs to add to the products they offer. Since then I’ve got about 1,200 visitors to come to the site. I get great feed back through all my social media channels on the items that I have in the shop and that they like my brand, but the sales are very minimal. My prices are competitive with my competition and the quality is great! How can I leverage that into more sales? My goal is to leave the spreadshirt shop and have my own inventory to ship. This way I can better control the pricing and expand the types of products that I can offer. I want to grow this business so I can quit my job like most people. So I’m gonna stick with this till something gives. Thanks!
Lisa Irby says
Hi James
I actually just switched to Spreadshirt on my site http://www.napturallycurly.com. I used to use Zazzle but commissions are way better. Let me ask you this. Is your T-shirt store niche or do you sell a bunch of different products targeted to different interests? Where does your traffic come from and how targeted is the traffic? The KIND of traffic makes all the difference in the world when it comes to making sales.
James says
Hello Lisa!
Thanks for the reply! I guess I would say that I have a niche site. It’s more of a brand like a Sean Jean, True Religion or Tommy. I have been very brand heavy so far. I plan to release more, “picturesque” if you will, graphic designs in the near future. My followers have been all over the spectrum on social media sites like Twitter, Pinterest, Google +, Facebook and Instagram. This was a surprise to me because I initially planned for the products to be geared toward a younger crowd (14-25ish). I have targeted my traffic towards those that shop online and still not much as far as sales. Just new followers every day and a lot of likes and good feedback. I’m sure I have a great product I’m starting to think it would do better in boutiques for now to build a better following. Just the cash flow isn’t there YET to produce enough product to be taken seriously. I have a few more ideas of things I can do. Just tired of chasing my tail and figured I can get some kind of feedback from an expert. If you have time can you take a look at my site and give me some type of direction. http://www.billyyono.com Thanks so much for taking the time out to respond!!! I feel honored!!!!

Hi Lisa,
Looking forward to reading EVERYTHING you have written. I’m a big believer in mimicking those who are already successful!
1) Do you have a website yet?
Yes, several – all trying a slightly different marketing technique and niche market.
http://www.ourpottytrainingtips.com – because I have a 2 yo and will need this anyways 🙂
http://www.wow-leveling-guide.net – this one because I’m an avid gamer and love World of Warcraft.
http://www.theaffiliatemarketingtutoria.com – a way to bring it all together and write down and hold myself accountable to my projects.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
You have the top position in Google for the same keyword that I’m using so it seemed like a good idea 😉 As I mentioned, it’s best to learn from the best in the field.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
List Building would be awesome, I understand SEO and getting to the top of Google (take time and good content and backlinking) but using lists is a little daunting. Do you pay for them, do you use these free services like ListJoe?
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
Prioritizing what to do. So many things to get done that I find it hard to keep track of where I am. I’m using Evernote and dropbox mostly and it’s kinda working. I’ve also got my domain emails routing to a main gmail account so that also helps.
Thanks for reading and all the best,
Tom

I recently discovered your YouTube channel videos after doing some research on SBI! (I opted to NOT sign up with SBI!) and currently only have one business website up and running.
I have been debating over which website platform to use for my future blog/website to get more traffic on my business site. Based off of your online advice it looks as though WordPress is the best one to go with.
I will definitely be seeking your assistance as I embark on the next chapter of my new online adventure.
Thanks for any support you provide directly/indirectly,
Connie

Not necessarily good for here but I can tell everyone that over the past 8 or 9 years I have watched you! You have conducted everything with integrity and honesty. Too often qualities not found on the Internet or in business period! It’s been a privilege to have become acquainted with you! Rick =)

Wow 8 or 9 years??? That’s a long time! Thanks so much Rick! Means a lot. 🙂 You should also join my forum http://www.websitebabble.com. If you have any questions you can often get a faster answer there. Good luck on your site!

1) Do you have a website yet?
Yes
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
I discovered you quite by accident and found that I have been in the same field as you for about as long as you but we are distinctly different in our success level. Your YouTube videos create the feeling that I have known you for a long time. I will be around to take in all of the information that you can dispense and hopefully I can apply it to my efforts in creating a similar business platform.
3) What would you like to learn more about?
Traffic!!
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
Narrowing my efforts down to specific niches and driving targeted traffic to that content and products. I look forward to the collaboration.

My biggest challenge is my lack of experience and confidence.

Hi Lisa my question is simple. As i look at your web site can i ask did you design or create it yourself? It starts with HOME-WHAT’S NEW-STARTING GUIDE-TOOLS +++Ect
It a WordPress Site. and everything is nice and neat. That is where i get stuck?
Hope you answer my question a simple YES or NO Will answer.
Thank you Laurence
Lisa Irby says
Hi Laurence
Yes, it was easy to do. You just go to Appearance >> Menu and create a menu that links to the pages you want. Works with any theme. I used the Prose theme for my design http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=255475&u=184437&m=28169&urllink=&afftrack=bloghomepage

Hello Lisa, I recently retired so I find myself with a lot of unproductive time on my hands. I absolutely refuse to be a couch potato, a Soap Opera fan, watch any of the Judges and certainly no Jerry Springer Drama (are you kidding me). I can’t remember how I came across your postings, but it caught my eye. In fact you make things sound very doable even for the novice such as myself. As you may have guessed I have not developed a Web Site as of yet. In fact I’m just kinda gathering information currently. I’m reading a lot of the material (Posts) on Website Babble to gain insight and gather information. So here I am starting from scratch trying to learn Tech y stuff ….. LOL. I’m not so much doing this to make money (I don’t think) as much as I really want to learn how to write articles, design a Web Site (Via WordPress) and see a weekly/Monthly progress in personal development. I’m retired, but I absolutely refuse to get OLD!!!
Thank you for Honesty, Integrity and for embracing the burden of Helping Others.

Thankyou very much for sharing such wonderful tips and tuorial on your website.
I am wish to start my own blog and earn a little bit of extra cash, so I am using your guidelines and tips towards reaching that goal.
My blog would be featuring some of my own shortstories, poems and travel adventure. I would appreciate some tips on what sort of Advertisements I should allow and how many on my page. Would you also recommend a world press blog? or shall I buy my own domain (self-contorl factor)?.
Once again thanks for all the lovely tips, advice and information.
Stay bless Ms Lisa.

Lisa Irby says
Kim, the best way to start is to think how web searchers think. Sounds like you have a few ideas but it’s important to narrow your niche down and think about either solving problems or providing advice to a very specific audience.
Think about it. People who may be searching for short stories and poems would type in something very specific like “poems about winter”. So you have to build a site that matches how people generally search the web.
You also need to think about monetization. How would you turn people who visit your site into customers? Does the idea naturally lend itself to buying? What kind of buying mood would someone be in if they are searching for the content you want to produce? These are things you have to think about. Remember, people aren’t usually searching for generic content and if they are, it’s harder to rank for generic phrases like “travel adventure.”
So the idea is to narrow down your focus into something specific and then think about what these people who search for those phrases would generally want to buy. Approach it from that angle and you will be on the right track. Be careful of creating a site solely on what you like. Also think about how the average surfer would find this content and what would make them buy. Also what kinds of things would they buy?
Come over to websitebabble.com if you need more detailed help and post some questions. 🙂
Yes, I recommend WordPress. I have a video tutorial here http://www.2createawebsite.com/traffic/create-free-blog.html

I don’t have a website. I am making body butters and scrubs and have friends asking where to buy. I also crochet and make infinity scarves, hats and baby blankets. I would like to learn how to set up a DYI blog website with a focus on African-American families. We have so many skills and yet have difficulty in promoting and marketing ourselves. I live in the pacific northwest, yet I don’t see many bloggers of color in this area. I’m also in training to be a yoga teacher and teach movement to children ages 3-8. I like what you’ve had to say about narrowing my focus and I would like help to understand blogging and how to sell products my website.

Hi Lisa,
Many thanks for your reply. You are absolutely right that the step of asking myself what problem to solve definitely comes first. I do have a list of “problem to solve” (well kinda) which is completely developed upon my own. 🙂 For instance I got very sensitive skin therefore I thought maybe I could see if I can bring some good skin care product and share with other people who also have such issue. I am just not sure how to test see if this idea would work – I mean if the competition is already very high. What tools would you suggest me to start with?
Thanks again.
Erica

Hi Lisa,
It’s great that I have finally been able to subscribe your enews!
I am a full time housewife who is trying to build online business. I don’t have a website or business name yet. Right now I am focusing on research – trying to understand what are the major steps to achieve my goal. For instance, what do I want to achieve, what is my business objective, how to register business, how to define my niche product or service, how to build website, etc. I have read and watched ton of blogs or youtube videos that teach people how to setup their online business and I found yours absolutely stands out. The reason I am saying it is because you don’t just share your technical expertise but also the business knowledge – what you show on the right side of the powerpoint slide – instead of trying to sell your product ask yourself why and how can you attract people to come to the business that you offer. I am not a techie. I have a lot to learn in terms of how to build website or generate more traffic. But I am a firm believer that the fundamental goal to build a website is not to sell the website, but to offer great products and services. I supposed I am more interested in something long term. With that said, I would like to build a business with my own name brand. My very immature thinking is to 1) identify a niche product, 2) then import it from wherever it is manufactured, 3) eventually sell it online. Except I couldn’t figure out what happens between step 2 and step 3. I have seen lots of video showing how to import cheap products from China then sell on ebay. But I couldn’t find any to teach what I am aiming at. And I am getting a bit deflated…
Not sure if you can share two cents with me? Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
Erica
Lisa Irby says
Hi Erica
I would even back up one step further. Before identifying a niche product, identify a PROBLEM or NEED and then develop a product that solves it — even if it’s a digital product like video or an ebook. I personally have no experience with importing or selling tangible goods. I have only sold information because quite honestly it’s easier. But that’s not to say you can’t aim to sell your own products if that’s what you really want to do.
Once you find a niche, read up on dropshipping. That is also an option. But first you need to identify your niche and product. Then research the distribution step last.
Also don’t forget to join http://www.websitebabble.com. It’s a great, friendly community for questions. Lots of newbies post there when getting started.

Hello Erica,
Just to add another 2 cents for your question about “…what happens between step 2 and step 3,” you might want to read Timothy Ferris’ great book, “4 Hour Workweek” where he has a chapter devoted just to this subject. It might be a great help to you if you’ve already identified a product or niche you want to follow.

Hello Lisa,
I do not have a website, I have always wanted to blog and own a online business. As a matter of fact, that is how I came across you site. I was surfing the internet doing research on opening an online store and your site came up and the content sounded interesting and helpful. With that being said, it was refreshing to find someone on the internet who was willing to offer up so much information without a catch to it and that is why I subscribed.
What I want to learn more about is information on how and where to get started in regards to starting my online store and also how do I make my blog interesting to readers and be consistent in my content. I am very new (new meaning that I do not have a website ) to this so my challenge is getting out of my comfort zone and embarking on a new career that can rewarding.
Thank you,
Crystal

Hi Lisa!
I must say I absolutely LOVE your site!!! I spent all day Sunday on it more or less, lol.
I’ve been doing IM full time since 2002 and have a bunch of sites. Got hit by Google after ten years of top rankings, so now figuring out paid traffic. I will NEVER rely on those ***nice people at Google*** again! Hence, my suggestion that I’d love to hear about from you now that I am upping my game on paid traffic, is TRACKING programs.
There’s no point paying for traffic if you don’t know the ROI on your investment. I used to use Adtrackz, which is no longer supported and out of date, and I do not intend on paying another monthly sub fee, so I’m looking for a solid, up-to-date program I can own. What are your thoughts?
Also, I will be buying the Genesis and Prose through your aff. link in the next few days. I’m so excited about that. BTW, awesome video on changing stuff on the lifestyle theme. Do you happen to have one on the Prose theme? I’m getting that as it’s a good one to start with. Tech stuff is not my strong point.
Anyway, I will be a regular visitor here. Thanks for all the GREAT info you provided.
Michele
Lisa Irby says
Thank you Michele,
I don’t do any paid traffic, but you are right. No point in doing so without tracking your ROI and that’s where people get into trouble. Also make sure the traffic you’re paying for is TARGETED. But as far as tracking, have you ever looked into Clicky? It’s a great tracking program. http://clicky.com/
I don’t have a video on the Prose theme but that’s mainly because there are a lot of customization options right within the admin panel. Prose is one of the few StudioPress themes that has a “Design Settings” tab so you don’t need to get into the code as much to change things around. It’s way easier to update. Thanks in advance for using my link.
By the way, you should join my forum at http://www.websitebabble.com. It’s a great way to connect with others and get questions answered. Hope to see you there! Thanks also for joining my list!

Hello
Thank you for the website and thank you for the e-book.
1. Yes, I have a couple of websites (one needs a lot of work) and also have another site in my pen name (so won’t put that here!) I am a budding writer, and have started blogging to try to increase my profile, but also to increase my income. One of my blogs http://www.susanshirley.blog@wordpress.com
2. I subscribed to your newsletter because lots of methods to increase traffic to my website are just so expensive! I don’t mind paying for things, but I don’t have that kind of money just at the moment.
3. It is entirely possible that you have already answered all of my questions – I only found your website through an internet search, so haven’t fully searched it yet – but I want to know how to increase traffic to my site, and everything that encompasses. SEO, tag, etc.
4. Hmm. Difficult question. My two biggest challenges are learning to do all the things to build my website whilst writing what I will call, for want of a better expression, “conventional articles and books,” and holding down a full-time job. It all comes down to time.
Kind regards
Susan
