Hi Lisa, I don’t have a blog or website as of yet, I don’t want to just start something and wished I had started with something else first. I have a lot of ideas, a lot of niches that I can use. As for why I subscribed to your newsletter, I’ve been soaking up your videos for about a month now and I felt that I could trust you, you seemed la-git, unlike so many others that I have seen. You have a lot of useful information and a very likeable and trusting personality and also you seem like you care and want to help people not just to make money, but I know that’s part of it, even so I don’t mind you making money off of me because you are giving away useful information.
As for what I would like to see more of, I don’t know just yet, I haven’t see all of your videos yet, and haven’t read all the articles on your website and I haven’t had a chance to read your free book yet either because I’m limited with time on account of the long hours that I work.
I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can and getting started, my goals will be for the long haul, I know this is not a get rich quick business, and that it will take hard work and persistence to be successful, I’ve been in small businesses for several years now but nothing with the potential that this has. Thank you Lisa, Wayne.
Brian says
1) Do you have a website yet?
Yes, I have a couple. I list my WordPress Blog page.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
To learn about monetizing my site/a site. I know I can’t do it with wordpress. I’m in the process of moving what I have to a personal domain name.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
I want to learn how to turn my blogging to a money making vehicle. I have a story like many others. I’m Over Fifty And Out Of Work; Hey, Where Did My Career Go? I spent 32 years as a Mainframe Programmer/Systems Analyst/Software Engineer, which means absolutely “NOTHING” in this Oracle Java Script World. After being unemployed for two years and seven months, not that I’m counting (LOL!), I decided not to go back to the stress of Upper Level Management and a 9-5 job; I’m retooling and do something I’ve been eying for years, making money using the internet. I knew there was a way, but wasn’t sure how to do it. I love to read and write about many subjects, so why not get paid for doing it! With all of that said, Teach me how to make money using a monetize blog site.
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
How to get traffic to my site.
I see that you already have a lot of information in all forms that will help me; that I appreciate. I’m glad that somehow I stumbled across you on youtube. You are an answer to prayer; you really are. By the way, I’m a Pastor too and I do pray a lot. I look forward to your help. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge. Be Blessed, Be Strong, Be Encouraged!

Hi kathy,
Today’s WordPress makes some stunning “static” websites as well and there are so many choices of design. I wouldn’t use anything else!
If anybody can help you its Liza though.
Kathy says
Hi Lisa
Yeap, I do realize a lot of people are using WordPress now. Actually do have two small sites set up as blogs on WordPress but three of my other sites are existing sites now that had been built with FrontPage. (actually had taught myself some html and made the site then my husband gave me FrontPage as a present. I used FP mostly just in the “code” mode . He learned to use it some in “Design” lol 🙂 One of our sites is a site we’ve made together. He’s umm actually not impressed with blogs at all lol 🙂 so I figured I could make the one site we have together and then he could do things in it using the “Design” mode.
My sites have a lot of separate category pages or pages devoted to one item., not set up as a blog at all. One is a pretty large site with an awful lot of datafeeds in it. I probably sound stupid but really did want to make a very clean site with no plug-ins, etc. Guess I’m saying I wanted to do it the harder way lol 🙂 really did want to set the sites up in Expression Web (which might as well be done in martian talk to me at the minute lol ) Figured css is something I should have known how to do a long time ago but better late than never so did want to use it. Really do appreciate you telling me about the videos and hope I’m not sounding disrespectful to your opinions or anything. Realize what you’re suggesting is probably much easier to do and most people probably are doing things that way.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me and suggesting to help. Don’t mean to sound so difficult.
Kathy says
Do have a web site, actually have a few and experimenting with a few blogs. Have been an affiliate for some time but always trying to learn more. Had been using Frontpage then updated to their Expression Web. Am attempting to remake all my sites in it using css. (Never done this before so is a bit overwhelming) Just trying to learn the basics I guess.
Lisa Irby says
Hi Kathy
Any objection to trying WordPress instead? I find that much easier than tinkering with CSS and HTML. It’s sort of the standard for website creation today because of it’s flexibility. I have a video here. http://www.2createawebsite.com/traffic/create-free-blog.html#video And here’s another video where I show you how to edit the theme for this site. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiUs–IHdCM

Hi Lisa,
Greetings from Rochester, NY.
I have been following your website and videos on YouTube for the last 3 months or so. Now that I am a retired gentleman, I thought getting into internet marketing or MLM would be a great way to pass time. Perhaps even generate a bit of money for an even better retirement.
Sifting through all the hype, I finally settled on you and a gentleman named Charlie Page to learn from.
It seems you are two marketers who anyone can learn a lot from. I purchased the Lifestyle them from your website and am studying it more now. Since my life has revolved around computers, even the mainframes, I am not a complete newbie to computers or programming.
My main reason here is to garner as much knowledge on building and presenting something of value. That is what I loved about your site.
As with everyone starting out, the biggest challenge from my perspective will be securing TARGETED TRAFFIC. I am not overly concerned with the rest.
I will have a website up soon and will give you a shout to check it out once it is ready.
A follower,

1) Do you have a website yet?
Yes i do have a website; diamond rings info.com
If you could take a few minutes can you advice me on how to improve my serp rankings. I’m in a tough market but was competing with the big boys quite well.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
You seem to be a very genuine person as you share your knowledge openly and are willing to help openly.
That is VERY rare online.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
a) The things that have been problematic for you regarding wordpress and how you solved them.
b) What site creation language we “need” to learn and the best place to do so e.g. css, html (know some basics of this). Also how to create websites that convert.
c) Tips on how to keep the ‘fire” burning or staying motivated before you start making money online.
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
Not getting traffic to my current website….tips on this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks & God bless,

I want to start a blog but am not sure of how to narrow down to a niche. I am not sure what site I should do. I have passion for cats, computers (build & repair), and lots of technology. However how do I narrow a niche and make sure I can blog daily about the niche and drive traffic. I want each thing I post on a blog to be unique and not some boring blog with a rewritten post that has been posted before. I follow blogs when they are unique and don’t post the same crap over and over again. That’s the kind of blogger I want to be.
Lisa Irby says
Hi Josh
When trying to narrow down your niche, you want to think in terms of what is needed in your niche. What questions, problems and issues do your future visitors have that you could address? Seek out your competition in Google and look for areas where they are missing.
The key is to know WHO you want to target and differentiate yourself by offering helpful advice in ways that other people are not. No one can really tell you what to do. It’s about you knowing and researching your own niche and looking for ways to stand out.

I found your site and figured that you were very experienced, very ethical and
I have been through some horrific experiences financially-I had to work full 72

Today is very special. Just as I am writing to you,a lone bugler will be playing
The Last Post–we call it Anzac day.We gather and there is a service for all the

and in full mode financial recovery mode-thank you every one and that thank you Lisa
for making it possible to get up and moving again-I look forward to getting to know you

The web site will be about being an Urban Citizen, researching ways to save time and money from growing a garden indoors to advise on raising children in an urban environment.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter? – I saw one of yoru videos and I was impressed with your passion and willingness to share the truth. I have been researching blogging and affiliate marketing and such and you hit on many of the things I have found to be the truth.
3) What would you like to learn more about? – Ways to provide valuable content and of cource how to monitiez that content but my motto is “NEVER blog for Money” because no matter what content is key and if I have good informative and usful content monitizing it should not be difficult.
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? – I would say organizing my thoughts into a plan to get things done. I have started writing down topics that I would like to write about and have set a goal to have at least 15 blogs written and edited before I publish my website. I am aware that I will need to invst money from time to time but you cant make any money without spending money …even crack dealers have to re-up.

Hi Lisa,
I am thinking about starting a blog that would compete with some major players with a lot of experience and credibility in the field. I think I could build a loyal following because I see the issues differently than the conventional wisdom. At this point finding a niche is a challenge because my subject area is so broad. It seems that I need to narrow my topics and perhaps create a blog for each of these passions, but I am not sure. I know that I need to start small so I can stay focused and not become overwhelmed, but choosing a niche and using SEO to rank high enough to build momentum are my biggest challenges at this time..

Hi Lisa,
I am a complete, dyed-in-the-wool SBI! owner but starting a WordPress site for another venture. In the next week or sooner I will be getting a Genesis theme and starting up a new part of my business.
To answer your questions…
1) Do you have a website yet?
Yes — http://www.diyassets.com/ (among others — that’s the main site right now).
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
Because it feels like an enormous leap to me, going from SBI! to WP. I trust what you say (always have!) and I really, truly appreciate all that you share on your site! Your honesty and passion come through on every page/video.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
I am most concerned with the techie stuff around WP — am I going to get hacked (I’ve seen a lot recently about anti-WP hack plug ins), am I going to have to learn to be a techie (I like techie stuff, but I would rather write), and also how do keywords work on WP vs SBI!. It feels like the search engines (especially post-Panda) are getting so good at reading content that I don’t have to worry too too terribly much about building keyword focused content themed pages as we do in SBI!. But still, I am doubting that I will be found at my WP site.
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
I have good training from SBI! — I just need to get Genesis and get going at this point!
Thanks, Lisa!

Hi Lisa,
I will answer your questions.
1: I have a few websites and 2 webshops
2: I’m now working online for over a year, but I still think there is a lot to learn. Normally I search on Dutch websites (since I’m from Holland 🙂 ) But here there are not really good websites with specific information, or out of date. By searching I came on your site, and it looked really good, allready with a lot of information I could learn from.
2: I would like to learn more about web design, and about how to get a good working site with all the options you need (for the visitors) Also about getting traffic without SEO.
3: I think getting more visitors, but also to get more action from the readers.
Thank you for all the information there is to read already.

My site is up, but it is the old html files I created in Microsoft Expression Web, which is way outdated. I have been working on a new WP site in the background in a different directory.
I subscribed to your newsletter because I thoroughly enjoy reading the articles on your website, and I thought your newsletter would give me great pointers on building my first WP website. I have many “beginner” questions right now.
With the vast amount of options and flexibility it seems that WP has, I will need all of the help I can get, and you are a great resource for that!
My biggest challenge right now is to read, read, and try, try before entering all of my content. I have over 200 pages and would hate to lose it all by hastily putting the site together without knowing what I am doing. The basics of working with a theme is a challenge for me. I used Artisteer. I tried a few other themes. Just can’t get it to work like I want yet, and I do not want to go too much farther until I figure that out.
Thank you,
Sandy

Hi Lisa:
First let me say thank you for the education you have already given this 59 year old first time blogger via your videos. I am about to launch my web site beginning April 8th, (which happens to be my 59th Birthday) and like a number of your followers am totally “wet behind the ears” in the world of blogging.
That being said … I am a person that if I do something I need to do it right, and therefore it requires me to do some research on how to reach that initial goal. Through my web touring I came across your videos and the professionalism that you exuded.
My wife (who is very savey on the computer as an “Instructional Designer”) suggested that I create a video blog, or at least a blog in order to voice my opinionated self! With time on my hands, and after 37 years of sales and marketing in the Corporate world, I would like to develop an on-line revenue stream over the coming years.
In the “I need to learn arena”, I would like more guidance in how to go about maximizing affiliate marketing. Secondly, I would like to know (Once I get my daily visitor numbers above 300 per day) how best to leverage my some 150 former clients in advertising their businesses via my “BetterLivingForum.com” blog without detracting from the quality I want in my blog.
Lisa, I look forward to reviewing more of your videos and your weekly tid bits you will be forwarding.
Thank you kindly for all your help!

Dear Lisa,
You are an inspiration to me. Without your easy to use information and encouragement, I could not have made it through these rough first months. Next month my website will be six months old. The learning curve has been HUGE! I’ve become accustomed to being overwhelmed and have developed patience with the process. It’s all about baby steps, for me. If figure if I continue to do better than my best and never give up, success will come to me in due time.
My website is currently under going remodeling to better situate it for marketing purposes. I have a hybrid site, a blog within a website, which is working well for me. I subscribed to your newsletter because I need a way to efficiently receive information to keep me up-to-date on the latest changes in the market. As you know, technology and everything online moves fast. To work smarter, not harder, I thought getting your latest information via email would help me keep my website as marketable as I am able to do. My biggest challenges at this stage in website/blog development are:
1. Trying to streamline all the tasks involved in maintaining an online business so the majority of my time and effort can be spent on content development and writing my next book. I have an ambitious business plan for my blog, my current series of books, another series planned, and down the road–a couple more websites, very niche specific and static with pillar articles. So, efficiency, and working smarter, not harder, is key.
2. Marketing is a challenge. I’m studying everything I can get my hands on. As you know there is never enough time in the day, or energy to absorb and learn what must be done. Marketing online is a completely different beast from the marketing I learned at the university 30 years ago; and is ever changing. My marketing ROI is poor and ineffective. My goal is to set a good foundation for stable monetization, hopefully before my website is 12 months old; I want to do it right. However, I’m more than overwhelmed by it and don’t know where to start. I’ve spent the last six months implementing what I’ve learned, but am not happy with the results. Looking back, I see I needed to do a change up long ago, but I didn’t know enough to do any different. So, I’m on a mission to learn the most effective ways to market my online business in an efficient manner with a higher ROI for my time and effort.
3. My last challenge is keeping track of everything I’ve put in place so far. All the different plugins, checkouts, analytics . . . the list is endless. In order to go forward, I have to add more. It boggles my mind on top of everything else. I “feel” like I’m failing miserably at the juggling act. And, again, the management of all these systems robs me of content and book writing time.
Bless you for your big heart for newbies. I look forward to your next post.
Kindest regards,
Cat

Thankyou for so much info. I’ve toyed with the idea of earning money on the web since I can no longer go to work. But, I have to admit I’m pretty ignorant about how everything works. It seems so overwhelming. But, I’ve decided to get off the fence and get moving. I’m subscribing because you make it seem possible! One of my main concerns is traffic. I know you can have a site but if there’s no traffic going to it, what good is it? I need to learn about social media. I only have a facebook account because my daughter signed up for me. I’ve never seen much use for social media. Do I sound like an old troll living under a bridge? Well, I can change. There are a lot of things that I want to explore and learn about so I signed up for each category on your list. My biggest challenge is going to be developing and marketing a better website. Hello Lisa,
I am so glad that i found your website on the internet! I am new in making websites and i really want to make one. I am a student and i want to earn some extra cash. I know very well that creating a website wont make me rich for one day so i don’t expect miracles. The thing is that i find creation of a website really challenging and it really is not about the money, although as i said i want to make some extra cash. I am willing to work hard for the website and maybe with the time to create more websites.
I want to create web store because i have some goodies to sell. I am also interested in affiliate marketing and generating traffic. To be honest i was s bit skeptical about your website at first because it was the first one that i clicked on when i did the search in google. In the first moment when i opened 2createawebsite.com i was thinking, well maybe i should look for more websites like this one to gather more information. Thus, i wasn’t sure if it was legit or not. But then after some time spent on the website i found your articles very helpful and even watched some videos. And i was very pleasantly surprised to find out that you are actually a woman! You really inspired me and convinced me that i can do it, i can create my own website without any prior knowledge. Thank you very much! I am looking forward for all your useful tips and videos!

Hi Lisa,
Let me start by saying I became a Fan on FB when I read your post comparing SBI! to WordPress. At the time I was with SBI! but had to make the change for financial reasons. Thanks to your article, I was able to make the decision with confidence. Ken Evoy is doing a great job and I have nothing but respect for him and his company. The education I received through them has served me well.
Now to your questions:
1. Yes, I do have a website (www.BrianAReekers.com), in addition to a Facebook Page(www.Facebook.com/BrianAReekers).
2. I subscribed because I admire and respect you and your work. I have already benefited from your articles and look forward to continuing to do so.
3. I would like to learn more about Autoresponders. I notice you use Aweber, but I am looking for a more cost-effective solution. I am just now looking into developing online income through affiliate marketing, as well as through marketing my own products and services.
4. My biggest challenge is wading through the massive amounts of information regarding Autoresponders. I know the choice is rather subjective by nature. I am blurry eyed from reading reviews and sites. I have even found one that sounds too good to be true (TrafficWave.net). HELP!
Thank you for all you do!
In the meantime, be Blessed, and Know that you are Loved!

Hello Lisa, I am so happy to find you. I have inundated with subscriptions, emails, videos, get rich quicks in the hopes of finding the help to jumpstart drive traffic to my web site, spearhead my business as an image and etiquette coach. Well, last week, I got sick of it. I stumbled upon you (not knowing who you were at the time) a month ago looking for styling ideas for natural hair on YouTube. On the weekend of March 2nd, I stumbled upon again, while looking on Youtube for lead generation, affiliate marketing, and marketing tactics for my business. Because, I was so focus on the videos, I didn’t make the connection. Nevertheless, I was instantly, drawn to your tips, the way you convey your messaging, the professional layout of your web site, multiple revenue streams… everything I needed to take my business to to next level.
The following week, I purchased your book Niche Website Success (yes, I am engaged with this book and don’t put it down until 2 a.m.). I have told myself… if it means starting over to get it right; that is exactly what I will do. Thanks Lisa, I am looking forward to the journey and adopting you as my internet marketing coach.

I have a website, which I designed it through the company’s tutorial. However, I cannot receive response from viewers on my site. They can email me, but response on my site from readers/viewers would be helpful. Therefore, I need to shop for a reputable web designer that will assist me in a better website. The website I currently have was referred by my publisher. I found your site via Google because I know nothing about rss url. Therefore, I subscribed to learn more about rss url, write meaningful blogs, and attract viewers/readers to my site. I will need a rrs url to blog on Amazon. When I contacted my website manager, they suggested WordPress.
I did a great blog for Valentine’s Day according to my nieces and friends. I placed it on my website and on another site. I want to learn how to do great, relevant blogs on relationships.

I have a daily blog that is 3 1/2 years old. I feel I have very good content…with 4oo to 600 readers a day and many of those returning daily from months on end. But I’d LOVE to take my blog to the next level and yes I’d LOVE it to be a good money maker…My blog is a mother/daughter effort and I’d LOVE this blog to be a good work from home income for her…..SO is there a real ‘coach’ that hires out for a few days/week or whatever is necessary to really help put a good blog on the map…..My readers come from all over the world…and I get the most heartwarming email…but still…we need help…something just isn’t clicking for us…..Do you know of a good one on one coach for hire?

Hello Lisa,
Marvellous to have found your site. Thank you for inviting me to submit some answers to your questions. As per …
1) Do you have a website yet?
Yes, I do. It’s been up for 12 years but only recently (within the last six months) has it been upgraded from being little more than a brochure on-site.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
The catalyst was enjoying both your personality and conversation shown on your video on the first of your web-sites I arrived at, namely ‘2createawebsite.com’.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
I suspect that I would join a line of thousands who need to know more about driving traffic to a site. I don’t need a quick fix (well … yes, I do, to be perfectly honest), but I am willing and able to work at the job of doing it. I’m a writer so manufacturing content is not too much of a problem (see on Kindle my book ‘How to make really great presentations’), but producing material that will stimulate results is the great unknown.
The major issue is that there seems to be so much to know that ‘what’ to know is the key to success. And I’m old (66), so the challenge seems to be just that more bewildering. Your ability to offer no-nonsense specific advice is something I appreciate.
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
TRAFFIC!! or the lack of it. ’nuff said!
All good wishes to you, Lisa.
I’ll look forward to receiving your various bits and pieces.
Kind regards
Owen

Hi Lisa,
Answers to questions
No I do not have a website at the moment.
I subscribed to your news letter because out of all the research i have done online on the topic of being successful in online marketing you came across as the most genuine of people giving sound useful advice.
I would like to learn everything that i need to know in order to succeed. I have no idea how to build a list, write bloggs or anything else etc..
My biggest challenge at the moment is poor health and lack of financial resource as i have not been able to work for some 3 years now.. Always being fit and healthy then this happend was quite a shock.
I have plenty of time on my hands these days so i am hoping your teaching can get me out of the rut i am in.
kind regards

To be honest, if writing is not really something you enjoy or you’re wanting to learn, affiliate marketing is probably not the best route. Now there are other ways to promote your links (Facebook, YouTube, etc.) but I personally like building up content, authority niche sites. I talk about these methods because they’ve worked for me. I can’t really recommend any other way that I’ve personally tried.

Hi Lisa.
Boy o Boy, am i glad to be here! Well lets just say i am a newbie in website building and internet marketing, but highly interested in it. I seem to have had a bad luck of following up on some very dubious groups who promise to help with these things , but whose main interest was to get your funds and then wallah! They disappear. BY THE WAY I HOPE AND PRAY THAT YOU ARE FOR REAL, so far, i think you are.
If i can learn to how to build/manage my website/blog, drive traffick to it, and perhaps earn a couple of dimes in the process, i will be most satisfied. I believe i am hardworking and willing to learn.
And no, i dont have a website yet, although i hope i can develop or acquire one with your help.
Thanks

LOL, I’m definitely for real. 🙂

Hi Lisa
Congratulations on a fabulous website. The first one I’ve come across that I actually understand – I’m a complete novice and am all at sea at the moment trying to promote my website.
1) Do you have a website yet?
Yes I do. http://heathspetcare.co.uk but it was created and is hosted by a third party. I maintain it but didn’t build it.
2) Why did you subscribe to my newsletter?
To learn more about creating a website so I can build the next one myself, which will be a niche website/blog.
3) What would you like to learn more about? Please be specific.
Getting traffic, particularly paying customers, to my existing website. Simple, low cost, promotion techniques.
4) What is your biggest challenge right now? (if any)
Finding efficient ways of attracting customers to my site.
